New Member - Fort Erie - 69 Beaumont Convertible

Hi all,

Great site, lots of knowledgable people.  I purchased a 1969 Beaumont Convertible in the fall of 2005.  When I first got her home she was all there and driveable.  As I started to really assess what would be needed to make her a nice daily driver, as many of us have seen, the damage was much deeper than originally anticipated.  The decision was made.  I must save this Classic Candadian Icon.  After several years of collecting parts, numerous trips to Carlisle, Barrie etc I am finally at the point where I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  It started with a replacement southern frame which was blasted and powder coated, same for the control arms, rear end, etc. Since I knew this car would never again be considered "original" I decided to make it my own.  I've installed a 12 bolt posi, F41 suspension, stainless brake lines and have a complete rolling chassis.  Next on the modification list is to install a 396 which is currently at the machine shop.  Other mods will include bucket seats and a console.  Don't get me wrong, I have gone to extreme lengths to keep the car as original as possible, including the purchase of a complete floor pan from AZ chevs in Arizona, NOS front fenders, original inner fenders, original doors, the list goes on.

Bottom line is it is a labor of love, cause as many of you know, this is a not for profit adventure (to say the least)

She is scheduled for major metal work this fall.  I will post some pictures of my progress soon (once I figure out how to do it)

Can't wait to drive down the road topless!!!

Thanks again for the great forum.

Mike

Welcome and looks like you are off to a great start. Quite a few of us have been at that stage and believe it or not they can get driven again. Good luck with it.

Not sure yet on the original colour, its a tough decision.  My wife loves it so of coarse I'm seriously considering it, besides, she is a great supporter and never complains that it takes up all the room in our 2 car garage and that there are parts hanging on the wall, under the deck, etc .  She actually convinced me to go with the Big Block.  I have a nice street 327 on a cradle in the garage that was supposed to go in this car.  Maybe I'll give her this one and do another!!
