I purchased Bills car a few weeks back, waited patiently for call to pick up in Sumas,Wa.Had a call yesterday from transport driver, not sure how it could happen being a truck driver myself.Lost trailer off tractor and transport trailer rolled down a cliff in Montana somewhere.I can't find any news anywhere on internet.I don't understand how something so spectacular would'nt make the news. The driver said the whole shipment of cars and trailer in his words"there is nothing left"I am totally blown away. How does this happen!disbeliefdisbeliefdisbeliefconfuseconfuseconfusenononoevileyeevileyeevileye

BAD NEWS. Well I'm afraid I agree with everyone on this. I would be demanding the head office of this trucking company to be contacting me personnally, instead of some bum-fart, ****-happens attitude truck driver (nothing intended to other truck drivers), and passing on what ever info they have as well as photos. I would want a copy of the State Patrols accident report. I would want their insurance companys name and representative name and number, as well as their personal lawyers name and contact number, just to let them know you mean business. And I would say that thats what you've been advised to do by your own personal law firm, who have affiliations in the U.S. of A.!!!!!!! Don't take this lightly, they will bend you over backwards if you give them half the chance. GRRRR I'll represent you. Good Luck, d.

I sense that you are skeptical of the call. I'd say, you are right to suspect something other than what you are being told. I feel your pain.

Carrier should have insurance for their lost loads!! I'd want some documentation that the trailer did get totalled & the cargo with it!!! Hope the car had an appraisel or something to that effect, bill of sale etc. to cover your loss?? I'm a retired tractor trailer driver & only 2 things can cause that [1] Driver error, didn't check the 5th wheel lock [2] the "jaws" on the 5th wheel broke or were worn out!! This is RARE but it can happen!!! I used to check the lock after stopping at truck stop as you never know if "some one" has a BONE to pick with your company & pulls the "pin" lock on you, when your inside the truck stop!!! Some drivers just "hop" in & go after stopping, BAD MOVE if you don't check out your rig.

Ditto. Certainly, checking out to see if this is really true. As you say, hard to believe it isn't online somewhere.

Do me a favour and let me know if it's supposed to be anywhere near Billings. I have a very good connection there.

u need to report this to the law enforcement agency in the area this happened. if u can confirm that it actually was loaded on a trailor and hasnt been seen since, then i would make a theft complaint to the police in the area it started in. If it turns out it actually was damaged in an accident then the theft inestigation can be closed, but if it turns out its actually been stolen, the clock is ticking and the longer it goes untreorted the harder it is to find. the sooner the Vin number gats into the system as stolen the better,

all jurisdictions have some type of reporting to police requirements for accidents, coliisions ect.. a trailer full of cars off a cliff wood meet that requiremnt anyplace in the free world, so if they will have a name, report number and law enforcement agency info to give u to confirm this event

the insurance companies require the same reporting to law enforement to prevent off the cliff events from causing payouts on claims happening all the time

It's supposed to be near Billings.I called car carrier and he said it was true.It only happened yesterday so I really don't know much. The driver of the truck sounded a little shaken but almost "**** happens" atitude,I think I would be more devastated if my trailer just about dragged me down a bank.I have the bill of sale and all the restoration docs, original bill of sale and so on.I really don't know anymore. The driver gave me a claim # adjuster name and #,so apparently it's real.

Does Bill know about the fate of his old car?

They say "Things happen for a reason" I'm lost for words trying to think of what stupid reason they have for this. lets hope that the transport trailer was able to protect the car enough so it can be brought back to its glory once again. Our flags are at half mast waiting for some more updates, I also searched for info in that area with nothing but prior incedents reported.

Yes,he does.He got very quiet on the phone,he hoped I was joking.I wish I was too.Talked to driver of truck again, said the drivers side is damaged and trunk, roof, passenger side seemed undamaged as well as the front end.Maybe I can recover it and have it fixed again.I might have to take a trip down to see whats happening once I get more news.

I found out about the crash yesterday. I am sick to my stomach. I too  first thought it was some  sort of cruel joke. I have spoken to the trucking company several times confirming stories and trying to figure out what happened. I have been on every Billings area website I can find and cannot find any stories yet on the crash. There were 7 cars in an enclosed trailer that were lost. Unbelievable.no
