1981 Firebird Esprit

A customer of mine has this 1981 Firebird Esprit she would like to sell. She has owned it since 1982. I don't have a lot of details other than it has been repainted, has a 305/automatic,  and over $2200 was spent on the car a couple of years ago on mechanical work. She would like $5500 for the car. If you are interested I can put you in contact with her.

That is a very nice car. Mary's first car was a '76, very similar car white with white and silver stripe, 350 Pontiac. The girls love white!

It's here in town. I haven't had a chance to check it out. Somehow this customer from work found out I had a Firebird and inquired as to whether I wanted another one.
It's a case of the car only getting driven about 500km per summer so they figured it's time to go to someone who will get more use out of it.

That looks like a nice car, Todd!  For a reasonable price, too, if it is as good in person as it looks in the pics.

Similar colour combo to this one, which is priced much higher...

The owner is looking for serious offers. Apparently they are looking to trade it in here at the dealership. The salesman told me to they'd look at any serious offer. You never know, you might be able to pick it up for a good price.

It sounds like 3-3500 might take the car.

The car just rolled into the dealership! It is in MUCH better shape than I envisioned. Super straight and solid. Was painted once in the mid 80's. They did a good job. They masked the original stripe and it is in good shape. Underneath looks excellent. The interior is in nice shape. A good buy for someone!

The hope is they can find a private buyer and they'll likely do the transaction through the dealership. The dealership doesnt want the car. Too old.

Sounds like a good deal at that money.

Todd, have you given the car a good lookover?  Does it have any rust issues?

Rat Boy has this to say:  A five year old with a 2 watt bulb for a brain should be able to get $3,500 for this Firebird inside a week.

Rat Boy makes a good point.

Unless the car has some serious rust issues hiding underneath.  If it's as good as it looks in the pics it could make a nice little cruise night car/weekend cruiser.  With a healthy drivetrain transplant, might be a bit of a sleeper without the shaker and spoilers and hood bird that usually accompany these cars.

Too bad they didn't send more/higher quality pics.  Would be good for a local guy who could see it in person, though...

tell them I'll pay $2200 and the dealer tax so they can do an in/out an get the tax credit (that allows them about a $2500 trade in)-dealer can mail me the paperwork after trade in is done-but customer/or dealer would have to drop off the car at my place

good "end user" value-but $3000 plus the in/out tax credit for them is $3390 - they might as well take it-thats as is no questions nothing-probably be lucky to get between 3500 and 4 after its cert/advertised/cleaned up etc... not to mention all the tire kickers that would have to be dealt with
