Factory Radio Makeover

Nothing looks worse when the writing on your radio display has dried up and falls off inside the unit. I went to the local wrecker that has a really good 1953 Ponch for parts, i know a 53's radio is different than the 52's one piece unit, i figured some parts cant be that far off..........Well the display clear shield is bigger it is made of plastic and it wasnt that big of a deal to shave it down to fit. The 52's glass shield is nice but getting the numbers silk screened on or a decal made to say Chieftain would have costed more than my time smile heres the "new" display that will last another 60 yrs. now i just need it to work again, aleast it will look better sitting in the dash even if i cant get it working.

Great work. I always liked having a working original radio.

Thanks guys, I finally have taken time away from making my customers interiors looking cool and I'm on a one month "shop closed" vacation. I sure missed having my own project to work on, its a great calming experience.
