A Beaumonts Last Ride

When I started my Frameoff restoration in 2009 I read and was told that was a good idea to pick up a parts car if one was available and use it as a donor car, I found this one in Alberta at a palce called Perrys Project Cars, I lucked out that he was picking a 69 charger 60 miles away so we worked out a deal that worked for both of us. The car was pretty well complete except for motor and trans. It was thew best money I ever spent, struggling with the resto and braking 40 year old parts, seeing how it all goes together and comes apart, It was a vinyl top car so It had all the extra trim and body side moldings complete on both sides. It was a wealth of information and as lots of my car was in boxes it was like a completed jigsaw puzzle. I slowly sold of the parts I didnt require and after 3 years had it srtipped to the shell. I advertised on this stite and got a call from Mike Near Niagra falls and he was looking for the rear tailsection and the dash metal all the forward to the Firewall. Well it was out with the grinder and reciprocating saw and a couple hours later the car was looking really sad so I decided it was finally time to send her on her way. I called the local wrecker and had it towed for the last time, it was kind of sad seeing her on the hook going down the driveway. But in her demise she saved 3 cars and was an inspiration from the way mine was when I started on my resto. It worked out so well i picked up a second parts car but now everytime I look at it I think well  my project is just about finished and i do need a new project !!!  Heres to the old and the new !!!!   RIP Beaumont

Nice story.  Sad to see it go but it helped restore others.  It looked like a cool color combo.

You have done agreat job on that car. Was the car you restored always a standard or did you convert it. Was just wondering if you converted, how you solved the back shift linkage problem so you have reverse lights and get your key out out of the ignition.

I converted the car to a 5 spd Tremec with its Keisler engineeringIperfect fit kit, it has the 5 spd, bellhousing , clutch and pressure plate, hydraulic clutch assembly, clutch and brake pedals, i had to modify the trans X member and send in the length of the drive shaft after installing in the car and they made up a drive shaft. The steering column was rebuilt floorshift column supplied by a company call GM Tilt in the USA, the backup lights run to a plug on the transmission and a neautral safety switch.

I will be forever greatfull mylo (aka Mike)!!! The Mike near Niagara Falls is me. With those last two pcs from mylo's donor car and after 7 years of collecting parts, numerous trips to Carlisle, Barrie, etc, I now have everything I need to do the metal work on my 69 convertible. Rest assured those last 2 pcs will be put to good use.

Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
