One of the best cars ever owned was an 1980 GP, W37 package with 301 4bbl. That car flew actually on the highway with it's 2.29 gears. I'll have to dig up a photo, was bavarian cream with padded gold landau top, Rally IV wheels, saddle colour interior.
Basically same colors as this one Ray, will post some more pics later of newly rebuilt 350, final assembly etc. Hung up on landau roof material, also looking for some nice wheel well trim, if anyone in Poncholand knows of a set, please let me know

Boy, you must have had a different version of a 301 than I ever drove. The few that I tried (80 Grand Am 4 barrel, also some B body 301 power)wouldn't even have outrun a 231 V6!

W37 Carl, It did fly with those high gears. I really liked that car, the Trans Am engine was the key I suppose. It had dual exit exhaust behind each wheel which was kind of cool. Easily buried the speedo. As I said a great car imo.
I've always liked those Grand Prix's. I was at the Pontiac dealer from Nov 80 to Nov 85 and got to see and drive some real nice ones. Wish they had put the 400 Pontiac in those before it went away.
