i know where the cowl tag is on my GP, but i just purchased it and never took any pass lately, are they supposed to be on the dash pad or are they a little tag in the driver side door jamb, if someone could fill me in that would be great. thanks.

It is located on the firewall close to the Master Cylinder100_3607.JPG0049.JPG, as well as on the drivers side forward door post. The door plate is only the VIN. For your vehicles codes, you'll require the one from your firewall.
