Found sedan delivery in Alberta

My wife took me to a show 'n shine at Gull Lake on Sunday and we found this along the way.  Couldn't get the hood open so have no idea of year, manufacture or trim code.  Anyone know what this is?

I took a few additional pictures, if anyone is interested.  It may have been on the forum before, I dunno'.sedan delivery 1.JPG

It's a rare vehicle Rick.

Is it for sale or just laying out in the field?

HWSCowboy (a member here) will love it.

Can you please post the other pics?

It's an interesting story. It is just sitting by the highway in the weeds. :( The pictures will give a sense of what's up with it. It's marked 'NFS', (not for sale), but then on the window it says not for sale, unless you have about $6K to reno it. Kinda' crazy if you ask me. As you can see from the first pic, the body parts are in OK shape. When you look inside, though, it's a different story. Too bad, really. I'll post the rest of the pictures asap and thanks, fellas, for you replies. Sure wish I could have got to the VIN tag.

Looks like they are using as advertising for their machining business?

Yup, looks like. The message on the window is pretty clear, though - it's for sale if someone has the $ to fix it. If I were interested, I'd make the guy an offer, promise to keep the car local and to keep the company info on it. Would add to the authenticity, as well, if it was originally attached to the business way back. I tried to get in and edit my original keywords, as I see I missed 'sedan', and instead inserted 'secan'. If one of the mods could get in and do that, then other members searching could find the post? Tks.

Thanks for the additional pictures Rick. Looks like someone has been "picking away" at the interior.

All the "hard to get" SD parts are there, primarily the exterior metal. The front interior was basically the same as a regular sedan. The one I saw (a '51) had the back "delivery" section just panelled in plywood ... very utilitarian.

Aaaaaah, the shrewd investigative mind at work!!!! I just made a courtesy call to Creative Machining, to advise that if there is a jump in interest in their 'sign vehicle', it's because of a bunch of Canadian Pontiac weirdoes. The very nice lady with whom I spoke advised me that it's not really for sale, they brought it in from Wpg., for advertising purposes. (BTW, Helen, if you're reading this, I'm not trying to do anything nefarious - it's just that when I see something this unique, I have to try to find someone to save it.)

Now for the kicker - Helen told me that the engine for this sedan delivery is in their possession. Kinda' sweetens the pot, doesn't it ladies and gents?!

I may have been forn to be a rabblerouser...,

OK, so that was collective, ya' hear? Way I figger it, I'm a weirdo and if someone calls this nice lady about that vehicle, he/she will be equally as 'off the wall', so to speak. I was not talking about the rest of you discriminating, wise, graceful and thoughtful people..., it was just about me and he or she. Ya' see?

Its a shame for that to be sitting there, I notice the add on turn signal switch dangling and it looks to have a Clock Delete, I have not seen one before but it looks to be painted red with the Indian on it but the steering wheel is in the way a bit too see it good.

That would be my toy and Stephenzone would be correct it's a 54 SD,it does originate out of Winnipeg as 'Robyn' had mentioned and was originally used as a drycleaning delivery unit, I have some limited contact info for the original family as well (it 'was' bright yellow and looked a bit like a bumblebee partway through the paint job). It's a few projects down the pile but not sitting there to rot, if we do a resto we don't want to get it torn down and have it stall that way we would want a straight through proper rebuild and we're mid another project right now. We figured having it out there would be a good way to advertise and generate interest while it waits in peaceful slumber but we were getting about 20 calls a week with people thinking they were going to give us $800 for it and we should be happy, some even got angry about it (therefore the notes and "NFS 6K"). The way I figure it we have built a ton of our advertising around it (see my avatar) and as a sign it generates $500 a month x 12 months would be $6000/yr, selling it for much less would actually cost us money and yearly. Ironically we also have a 54 holiday trailer we have considered putting out there behind it too, anyway we have the original drivetrain and have had the straight 6 motor running on stands (a few years ago now). The side of the block looks like it had a rod put through it early on and a motor rebuild company in winnipeg has repaired and tagged it. We have pretty much all of the interior including the before mentioned plywood panelling for the rear carefully tucked away in warm storage (I believe this was very common or they may have come that way judging by the others I've seen) an extra seat and the rare good condition speedo among a ton of other tidbits, as far as upholstry someone like B-52 would make short work of it.The rear end is shot (or missing the carrier, not sure) It's non molested and we even have some super hard to find NOS rear lower panels for some of the rotten bits. I would imagine the front floor panels would be the same as a regular sedan and not as hard to find repops but we do have power hammers and a wheel if all else fails. In the rear drivers side lower panel is a pretty good gouge (kinda looks like someone caught a pole top? or something) that was filled before paint but otherwise it's pretty straight and solid where it matters. Really we want it to look "field car"ish for now so people don't mess with it much but it's still obviously generating interest. Being a pontiac is what really sets it apart, if it was a chev it would already be a rod for sure. This will be better as more of a resto for us or potentially someone else but it won't be "given" away to be hacked we have no need or desire to part with it anytime soon.

Great story!! Glad to hear that it won't be sitting in the field forever. Not too much at all for those interiors, front seat restore, front door panels, front flooring/carpet, small front headliner (if it has one) or a full headliner could be made front to back, maybe rear side wall beauty panels and the rear door panel. Can't wait to see that project get started !!!!!

Wow, what a story! Am I ever glad to have stumbled on this one. Yes, sir, your Avatar does kind of say it, doesn't it? Well, at least now you know that we are out there, lurking and stumbling through the weeds, chasing anything with chrome stripes or an Indian Head. I know it's not going to make anyone sleep more peacefully, but it is what it is. Sounds like you would be a very good person to have around a collector's group and I apologize for calling Robyn, Helen. I'm old.

it's definitely in much better shape than the one i hauled home. But come on,using it for a sign?If they wany a sign car i have a pink 77 cadillac i'll t.rade them. That car deserves so much better.I was contacted by a fellow from the fairmont/radium area and he had 2 deliveries for sale. One had a camaro sub frame and one was bone stock, both in decemt shape.I think he had a 51 2 door as well. The story on mine is that it was once owned by a company called Watkins S sales man in the lamont area of  alberta. Was told he was the cousin of preimier ed stelmach.Suddenly a bunch of pontiacs showing up on ebay, kijiji.I had my 54  4 door out in the driveway for 15 minutes on sunday and had a fellow stop and make an offer on it,not sure if i want to sell it yet but a decent offer, tempting.Happy to hear it will be restored one day.I do have a few pieces of mine left if you need them, all the wood floor panels, most of the trim,a spare hood, etc. The floor panels, rockers etc should be the same as a 54 checy so all can be found online.Apparently the doors are exclusive to the deliveries  i've been told
