1974 Cadillac DeVille WAGON, $6000

Not mine but I know you gearheads out there love cars including the unusual ones. I saw this ad over at Hemmings and I thought you all might find in interesting. Supposedly factory built, 1 of 3, who knows? Kind of reminds me of the old Mercedes Benz Biz wagon conversions.

There was a company in the US that built Cadillac station wagons and El Camino type vehicles. This is one of theirs. Can't remember the name though. I've seen a few of different years over the years.

Yes there was a company. GM made 5 of these special Caddy wagons. My friend Steve Plunkett owns 1 of them. Apparently were for GM execs and if memory serves me correctly were used to haul VIP at Nascar tracks??? jogging memory here. For the life of me I cant remember who built them but they did the El Camino Caddy version too. Think Steve owns one of them too.

I actually worked on Steves Wagon and sat even in the very back...UBER COOL

For $6000 great buy IMO....I emailed the link to Steve....who knows,he may fancy it

I love it. Looks like a heck of a deal for that money. But it would take up so much space.

It makes sense that it would have been put together by a coachbuilder firm. I had forgotten about the El Camino-like flower cars. I remember waiting at the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit, waiting to cross into Canada after March break in Florida back in 1973. There was a transporter with Cadillac chassis-cowls, basically front end clip up to the dash with full frames. They were either going to become ambulances, or more morbid still, hearses. I also remember the red with white top 1973 Pontiac Gran Ville convertible on another carrier waiting to cross at the border. Dual exhaust 455, white interior, Rally II wheels toocool.gif

I spoke with an owner of one of the "flower" cars at the 2010 Doo Wop show in Charleston WV but i'm at a loss for the name of the builder TOO!!! He had all the Brochures from Co. & GM for these vehicles, his was 1 of 5 for his yr.

The car for sale appears to me to be the wagon offered through selected Cadillac dealers and converted by Wisco USA in Ferndale Michigan, Wisco did a number of factory authorized conversions for Cadillac over the years and often branded them as "El Classico".  These cars were Cadillac through and through, no tiny Buick 455 in these cars at all, you are looking at 472 and 500 CID Cadillac powered cars. These cars carried full factory coverage by Cadillac and were considered to be Cadillacs in the same way that a Pontiac Can Am is a Pontiac even though it was converted off site by a contractor.

When the El Dorado paced Indy what were the secondary or back up cars? Perhaps Caddy wagons?
