Ground up restoration done about 16 years ago and was used in some parades, weddings and was the main character car in the CBC movie "Butterbox Babies," which can be seen on YouTube.  It has been sitting for a number of years but I start it up regularly.  Needs some restoration work.
The front part of the trailer is a self contained, two wheel car dolly.
Send me an email if interested

Tires/rims on the back section of the trailer appear to be space saver spares.

As great and wonderful as this car is, sadly there is a very limited market out there for a car of this vintage. I love these old cars but they are not practical to drive anywhere but in a very slow parade. Also most of the guys that loved this era of cars are either dead or very old to care anymore. The same thing that has happened to this era of cars will soon happen to 1950's cars as well. That is just the simple sad reality of us old car guys and gals getting old, getting sick and then dieing off. I am seeing it in the old car hobby every where. This car will hopefully end up in a museum or with some good luck in the hands of someone that will appreciate it as it is. Sadly it may end up cut up and turned into a !@#$%^ clown car. I can only hope that sanity prevails and this sweet 1929 piece of Pontiac history survives. Cheers. George.

Actually its already started with the imports and if they are old I still want one. Here is a 1970 Nissan GTR, some of these cars are selling for over $50,000 all over the world. If you even know where a base Nissan of this era is, grab it because guys buy them and "Clone" them out to a GTR and get big dollars for them putting in j-spec 90's skyline/GTR drivetrains and period correct GTR interiors.

George, I partially agree with your comments but for the fact 1954 will be the cut off year. There is no way the 55=57 era will ever in our lifetime fall out of favor or interest. The 1955 model including all brands can still be driven anywhere in comfort, keep up with traffic, and these cars only need the addition of seat belts and modern braking systems to be safe. The 1929 Pontiac hopefully will be sold to someone who will appreciate its originality.

Al i agree with you sir but we have to admite that todays young kids could not care less about these cars that you and i love so dearly. That is the reality that these are the cars that our generation loves so dearly, not so much generations after us. George.

A friend of mine who lives in Scarberia is going to look at this car tonight. He already owns a un-touched/survivor 1926 Buick McLaughlin. I'll find out what he thinks of it.

Here's the scoop on this car (my friend emailled the seller). Sounds like a lot of "work" has been done on the car (with a lot more to do). Why a F**d drive train disbelief:

Hey Darryl,

Here are the specifications on the 1929 Pontiac. Great deal but I am a bit of a purist and with the motor and transmission being swapped, it turned me off. L

Steve.

Steve,

I've had a lot of emails and am not sure if I sent you this additional information before. If not, let me know if you are still interested after reading.

1929 Pontiac, 2 dr. Sedan.

6 cyl, 170 cu in Ford Engine and auto trans from a 1965 Ford Comet, with 42,621 original miles on it

I restored it from the ground up about 16 years ago and it has not been driven much except in a few parades and to some car shows.

I used it for a couple of weddings and in the CBC movie, Butterbox Babies, seen on YouTube. (Just type in Butterbox Babies and you will find it.  The main character, Lila Young, in the movie drives the car.

I acquired the car from up in Timmins, Ontario and it was in my family for about 15 or more years before I restored it.

I installed new brake linings on it and you never have to worry about brake cylinders or master cylinder because it does not have any. The brakes are totally mechanical, operated by adjustable steel rods and cables at each wheel.  I welded the brake and clutch pedals together so you can brake with either foot or both.

The wheel spokes are made of wood and are in surprisingly good shape. I replaced the tires with new ones when I restored it.

I recently made new running boards out of solid oak.

The vinyl roof seams are coming apart because the vinyl shrunk from sitting out in the sun too long.

It starts up really well but it is suffering a bit from sitting too long.  The transmission is having a bit of trouble engaging but I am not sure if that is due to a cracked vacuum hose or that it is low on fluid.  It was working fine when I parked it there.  I take it out around the block once in a while to loosen it up.

I converted the electrical system to 12 volts. It has an electric cooling fan

The frame is a steel ladder type, just like a truck, with leaf springs front and rear.

The Body work needs to be redone in some areas, but the sheet metal  is solid. The whole body frame is made out of wood, including the frame work of the roof. The door hinge pillars are made of wood and have rotted and need to be replaced.  I made them originally also. Sheet metal was formed and nailed onto the wooden frame work. That is how they built them back in 29.

It was built right here in Oshawa, Canada.

It originally had only one taillamp but I installed a second one and installed signal lights, which it did not have originally either.

This is not the kind of car you want to drive on a regular basis but is more of a hobby thing. It is also not a jump in it and drive away car.  It does need some work.

I used to own a Body Shop and that is where I restored it originally, along with building the trailer. The Trailer is made up of a front wheel dolly with swivel turn table, which can be used independently from the rear section. The ramps are tilting so you can drive up onto it and then you lock them in the horizontal position. I simply used a thick nylon rope through the wheels to hold the car in position but it probably would be best to by a set of good ratcheting wheel straps which you can purchase at Princess Auto for around $60.00 bucks or so.  I never got around to doing it. You would also need your own trailer license as the one I used on it is on another trailer of mine. The rear platform is made up of a steel framework with thick mesh top and it has 4 wheels.  It attaches to the front dolly with a long trailer tongue to a trailer ball.  The whole thing comes apart for storage in less space.  I designed the whole thing myself and I have never seen another like it.

I live in Scarborough, near McCowan and Ellesmere.

The reason I am asking $4,500 for the car and trailer is because it needs work.  Otherwise, I would be asking a lot more.

Write back if still interested, Bill.
