1957 Pontiac VIN decode, svp

I see someone in the group has all the inside info in vehicle identification.

I have most of the code for my '57 figured out, but I'm wondering about the model.

It had no side panel markers on it to indicate laurentian or pathfinder.

Can someone do the decode for me?

Serial # 72019630516

Style 2019

Body 7516

Paint 2014

Trim 901

BSO 213353

Thanks!

Sid

Appears your car is a Pathfinder Deluxe six.

My Dupont GM swatch sheets for 1957 show
X014 as Sierra Gold Met which is Dupont code DUM-361-H
( I suspect the 2 in your number vs the X in mine is because your number is specific to Pontiac.

If that is your car in your avatar then I'm thinking that Sierra Gold Mettalic is correct.

The book I'm using I've been told has many flaws.
It shows numbers starting with 22 being Pathfinder and starting with 20 being Pathfinder Deluxe.
It indicates that a D after the number 20xx means Laurentian.

what book do you have, mine is GM 46-57 pontiac parts cat no 572 but i know how ya feel about the flaws. my book states 1st digit year, 2 and 3rd digit series code, 4 and 5 digit model code, 6 digit number of cylinders, rest of serial - vehicle number. doesn't tell me what 20,22,27 or 28 series code are. but does state 19 is sedan-four door and 19D is a sedan-four door-deluxe.

From where i am standing, your car is a Pathfinder Deluxe. Not a entry level Pathfinder or a top of the line Laurentian. Your car is just like mine a Pathfinder Deluxe which was obviously the middle of the line. It compares to the 210 Chevrolet model. Your model and mine were the bread and butter 57 Pontiac's. The most that exist seem to be this model because the most built seem to be the Pathfinder Deluxe four door sedan with 261 inline six. Does your car still have the original 261 six? What are your further plans for your 57? Cheers. George.

Yep that's my relic in the pic resurrected from some southeast Alberta farmyard.

If you see it in person, it's a copper / salmon colour with an off-white lid.

Open the doors and you'll see a rich copper almost unfaded.  Metallic gold is doubtful.

Hello Sid, are there any updates on your fine 57 Pontiac Pathfinder Deluxe. What motor and transmission is in it? Any work done on the interior yet? Sid if you have anymore photos of your 57 please post for all to see. Continued good luck with your sweet 57 Poncho. Cheers. George.
