dang,ignition issues

ok a few weeks ago i had some issues where i'd turn the key and nothing would happen,Turned out i had a couple loose wires at the ignition, tightened the screw and the car has been starting flawlessly.Saturday i turned the key once and slight hesitation but as soon as i turned the key again away it went.Today started the car, drove to work, drove home after work no issues.Parked in front of my house since i had to work on the wifes tahoe.i go to start it up and nothing, not a click, nothing, lots of battery power, pulled the jgntion out, trien tweaking the wires again as they seemed loose again, but ended up pushing the car into the shop, just too dark to work. Not sure how many wires go to where but seem to have a lot on one post.

did you try to bypass your ign. switch by jumping your starter directly with a screw driver since you said «not a clic» so I presume the starter didn't turn?

Your neutral switch maybe your issues. Look for current to your neutral switch while starting.

ok had a bit of a chance to look at the car today.First i have a fully charged battery.I have lights, radio, heater fan, turn signals all that stuff when the ignition is on.I jumped the dtarter with a screw driver and the starter spins.I did find one wire broken off the steering column by the neutral switch. It goes on one of the studs sticking out towards the front of the car,one on each side of column.I re-attached it but no difference,no click, nothing when i turn the key.I guess time to break out the test light but of course i left it in the tool box at work,oh well tomorrow night i guess.Really frustrating as the cat had been starting fantastic, probably 100 times no issues, drove it to work and back no issues, parked it,shut it off and now nothing.Did i mention i hate electrical gremlins,oh well good to get to know your pontiac i guess.

It should be possible to take out the lock cylinders and interchange them. But you need a key to get the lock cylinder out.

Ok folks in need of some help here.I have spent days searching for a replacement switch or even an ac delco number for the switch and can find nothing.I have found them for 54 trucks but they are diiferent than mine.My last resort is a universal 4 post switch which i hope will work with my 6 volt system.Think i will spend the afternnon digging through some boxes in hopes of finding a door handle from the other pontiac so i can get a number off the rod,get a key made and use the other ignition switch i have.Help anyone got an old ac delco catalogue that goes back to 54.
