Hydro-boost power assist was introduced in 1973 by Bendix as an alternative to the vacuum booster. The hydro-boost uses the hydraulic pressure from the power steering system to provide the driver assist in applying the brakes. There are three reasons why a vehicle may be equipped with hydro-boost instead of a vacuum booster:
There is no vacuum source available, as in diesel engines, or the vacuum source available is too weak to adequately supply a vacuum booster.
There is limited space available for the power assist device.
The vehicle requires more assist than is available from a vacuum booster.
Hydro-boost has been used on a variety of vehicles since its introduction and OEM applications presently include:
* Most 2500 and 3500 series GMC/Chevy trucks;
* 1996 and newer Cobras and all V8 Mustang;
* Dodge Ram equipped with Cummins turbo diesel;
* Ford Super Duty series trucks equipped with Diesel;
I had to buy a larger bore master from a mid 80's corvette . I tried my original one first & almost put myself through the windshield. It was way too sensitive.
The kit comes with metric & standard adapters in case you want to update to a newer style or Jeep steering box is just a change of the aeromotive hose ends.
if you want to hide the hoses in the fender , you need to either order longer hoses or get some custom made.
Just make sure you hook up the hoses correct or The p/s pump builds tons of pressure & makes a whining sound.
I've heard of people getting the Astro/Safari Van hydro boost units & modifying the firewall adapter plate & welding on a pedal linkage rod end.
I do recomend the change . The brakes will stop you twice as fast at half the pedal pressure. ( you have to get used to it though)

I'm not mechanically inclined so I bought complete system including matching wildwood master from hydrotech wasn't cheap but that's the way it is am getting sandale performance to install just trying to decide which serpentine system to go with I see u have electric waterpump how that working out
It's works ok . I was racing for a while at Race city in Calgary , so it was good for cooling down with the engine off
After a race. I had to drill a 1/8 hole in the thermostat flat area to keep it flowing . I don't race it anymore but it still works good . 4 core rad & 2 fans .
I do like the clean look too.
