I HAVE THIS THING FOR A 4 DOOR 65 BISCAYNE 6 CYL STD DONT KNOW WHY ?
1968 Chevelle SS True 138 Car Originally a Baltimore,MD Car. Only one of two known in Canada with the rare Buick Interior (one of 17 worldwide with the split Bench Seat Trim Tag shows the Buick numbers). Immaculate condition. Date Coded, era matching 396. 12 Bolt rear end, Muncie M-21 Transmission. Brakes and Ball Joints just re-done. Painted in 1995 (Burnt Harvest Orange). Transmission overhauled (1.5 k job), and 1 k electrical just done by Heighton Restorations in Beiseker, AB.
Purchased in 2009 for 28 k, and put over 5 k into it. Have an appraisal of 45 k (very early 2009) and 30 k (later in the year when the stock market crash really hit before all work was done). Brad Meidinger of Specialty Auto Appraisals.
Clutch is slipping, and needs to be replaced. 26.5 k as is or I will have the Clutch professionally done at 27.5 k. All work is documented, and a lot of information on the Car will go with the purchase. Mechanics at Red Rock Automotive in Calgary, and Heighton Auto Restorations Inc. In Beiseker know the car, and I will provide phone number for them if requested. I honestly believe this is a very good price for this car. Lots of Pictures and information available.
I recently bought a 1971 Chevelle SS and I cant drive both. Contact Don Thorssen in Calgary, AB 403-256-1173
we have run into the Buick interior in 68 Chevelles several times. I believe GM had a lengthly strike in 68 and which resulted in a shortage of product; Chevelle interiors being one thing.

There are a couple different stories about why the Buick interiors were used. The strike was one story. The Martin Luther King assination and ensuing riots is also another story. I have also heard that Pontiac and Oldsmobile interiors were also used in some 68 Chevelles.

I also read something a while ago that said the same thing - strike led to shortage of materials.
All those substitute interiors were black. There were Skylark & Skylark Custom interiors used in Malibu, SS396 & Concours; also Cutlass Supreme interiors used in the Chevelle Concours, plus I think the Buick Special Deluxe interior used in the Chevelle 300 Deluxe. It was only for Baltimore cars in April 1968 (I could be wrong on the month but it was only 1 month anyway).
