Very interesting... is that Orbit Orange or Carousel Red, or whatever they called that orange that Judges were commonly painted?
Strange combo... Luxury Lemans with the standard skirts and all the trim, wire wheel covers, but orange with 4-speed... kinda like the buyer wanted a GTO but the wife insisted on a Luxury Lemans...

I love the oddball cars, and this is one. Factory 4-speeds in the Lemans all came with genuine Hurst shifters. That one looks all correct except for the white shift knob (should be black). Behind the 350 I would expect a 2.54:1 low Saginaw. The 5th character in the v.i.n. is an M. That designates the car as a 350 2-barrel single exhaust (N would be a 350 2-barrel dual exhaust). Dual exhausts were available in 2 flavors, a regular system with subtle turndowns by the rear valance, and a less muffled performance style shared with the GTO & GT with side split exits. The colour is Sundance Orange according to Pontiac nomenclature. Curiously I see something about 2-tone on the invoice with the paperwork shown. I wonder if they are referring to the presence of the D99 C-pillar moldings? Any 1972 Luxury Lemans coupe I have seen had them or at least a vinyl roof cover. Not so for the 4-door hardtop.
There was a wilderness Green Luxury Lemans 4-door hardtop on my street from 1972 to 1979 that came without the C-pillar moldings. I remember that car from new; it replaced a brand new 1972 Mustang Grandé that was written off after just a few weeks. That Lemans wore the Grandé sport wheelcovers in honor ever since it arrived home from the dealership. They looked very good on the car;, much better than the typical Lemans full wheelcover. They gave no clearance issues with the fender skirts.
Factory photo shown below with a 400 and side split exits (oddball on a Luxury Lemans).
