66 stainless trim removal

hey guys, looking for tips and tricks to aid in the removal of stainless trim strips (door, quarters, fenders). Not sure how they're attached exactly and don't want to bugger them up. If anyone has photos of what the clips look like, that might help too.

thanks!

The trim in this case is the lower narrow side trim on 65-66 full size Pontiacs. Some of those pieces are on a plastic clip that just pushes into the oval slotted hole and then the trim snaps on to it. Grant and I have been talking about this and I don't want to steer him wrong on the correct process to remove that without damaging the trim. There is no easy way to get to the back of many of these push in clips.

I'm kind of in the same boat.  i wrecked pretty much all of mine(plastic and winter don't mix) so I'll have to scrounge the body shop suppliers stock to see what will work for the blind end ones.  The nutted ones I can salvage.

One thing that seems to help taking them off is to twist them to a degree and most of the time you can disengage one side and then slide it off the other side, but don't twist too much!

Are your's all steel? The 66 clips are plastic except for the ends where the bolts go through a hole and have a nut on the back.

I can check but I think there is an aftermarket clip available that will work for the plastic oval ones to go in those slots.
