Saw this on kijiji. Don't know if this is a typical "I'll destroy it if I don't sell it" threat, or just a practicality that the parts are worth more than the whole. Looks like it would be a nice driver or entry-level hobby car for somebody:
1972 Nova 4 door 250 six engine powerglide auto it has one option, power steering. Inspected and licensed . 30K original miles on it. Works like a top. New multi leaf rear springs and shocks etc. Good on gas. Last chance before I take it apart , lots of nice parts on this one.
Been watching this one for awhile. Too bad my stable is full. Some cars a worth more parted out but this is not one of them. No demand for the drivetrain so what is a front clip and subframe worth. I would enjoy driving it the way it is.
Complete agreement here. Pete is just trying to be a meany again. That car will not be parted out, someone will buy it and enjoy it. I have faith. George.

PART IT OUT!!! cars worth more in pieces, good frt. clip, sub frame, bumpers & trim etc. Although this is a clean straight car. It's not a desirable body style, [from the dash back] & it's a 6cyl. auto!!! Shame!! But the truth IMOP

You can't tell me there's $3000 worth of parts there.
There is'nt $3000 of parts there but that is one heck of a nice car for the money. Especially if it has a cherry body. I have faith someone will buy the car and enjoy it. George.

Pete stop being so grumpy. Hey maybe there is room at your place for this sweet little Nova. How about a second car for the wife? After all this is the proverbial "Grocery Getter. Cheers. George.

That's a cute little car, looks close to showroom condition. Back in '78 we had a small fleet of white 4 dr Novas as company cars. I liked mine alright with white paint and red interior but the 250 six with auto was terrible and not much of a pleasure to drive. Mine had to be floored to climb Pottery Road hill in Toronto and even then it would chug up at about 20 kph. That was embarrassing actually. It was reliable and lasted a longtime though.

Ray it is obvious to me that your 250 was in very poor tune. I have driven these engines and was always amazed at the power they had. That is one of the reasons why they are so popular with hotrodders and drag racers alike. There is a whole new world out there for the many V-8 guys that just do not realize how popular these GM sixes really are. There is a major following world wide that keeps on growing. Many a souped up six has shut down a souped up V-8. It seems a lot of V-8 guys just do not want to accept that reality. Cheers. George.

You don't have to like me or what I say George but advertise this same car except in a 2 door for double the price and see what happens!
Carl you take all this way too seriously brother. Stop being so offended over nothing. I have no ill feeling towards you man, lighten up and cheers. George.

Gotta say that must be some hill, Ray. I've had a couple 250 Novas, a '72 with a powerglide and a '76 with a TH200. While not rockets, neither motor ever had any trouble moving those cars along. We have a lot of hills around my hometown and I can't recall ever not being able to exceed the speed limit on any of them. Same with the highway. I thought the PG car was cool in that it shifted from 1st to 2nd at 60 mph at WOT.
On our little oval track, the Chevy sixes constantly ate the Ford 250s and Mopar 225s. Granted, a lot of that was due to the fact that Novas have better handling characteristics on the oval than the other two, but the sixes had enough grunt to get them going pretty good.
I would agree that there must have been something wrong with that six... maybe the company had governers on them? Maybe the trans kickdown wasn't adjusted properly? Or, it is like a 50% grade that you were climbing...

I don't think there's any question that an equivalent 2-door will bring more money than a 4-door.
I think the disagreement here comes from how one defines "value". While the 4-door has less monetary value than a 2-door, the value of a 4-door is a little less tangible and a little more esoteric. I'm talking about historical value and sentimental value. While many of us lust over hot rods with mega powerplants (which there is nothing wrong with of course, I like 'em too), others recognize the significance of the fact that the car companies have always survived on the bread and butter transportation that dominated the roads at the time. These are the cars that we were driven around in, looked out of the windows in awe when we went on vacation (remember "driving" vacations?), our moms and dads and aunts and uncles all drove these practical forms of transportation and we all remember them.
I think there is a lot of value in preserving this type of vehicle, and thankfully there are some out there who recognize that and enjoy the price break they get on the 4-doors.
It's all one big great hobby with many types of cars and many types of hobbyists. Personally, I'm glad it's like this.

Those who know me will tell you it's not possible for me to get much lighter George! I take no offense at all, I just get tired of explaining to people that market value on 4 doors is lower than it is for 2 doors. It's reality. It's not that they aren't attractive and a big part of the hobby. It makes no difference to me if people prefer 2 or 4 doors, it's their choice.
When it comes to the car hobby, there isn't much I take too seriously. It's a hobby and if a hobby is stressful, what fun would that be? I save my stressing allotment for things that matter, such as life, health, family etc.

It's a long meandering steep hill. If it's any consolation my next company car was a Dodge Diplomat with a 318 and it was just as bad on that hill, no, it was worse.
Gotcha... just looking at the angle between the road surface and the retaining wall stones gives one a pretty good idea on how steep it is - very steep! I would think going down would be hard on brakes as well.
Those lean-burn Mopars of the late seventies were definitely dogs when they weren't working right (98% of the time). Definitely would be more sucked out than a 250 Nova. IMHO
Ya brakes, and at the bottom of the grade is a hard right underpass of the Don Valley Parkway, basically a blind corner. It's a tough road but a major arterial from Doiwntown to the eastern residential sections of Toronto. The Nova definitely had more grunt than that 318, and to think the cops were using those.
My brother was a cop in Calgary at the time using those 318 lean burn Dodges - he said nobody liked them.
Quite a difference a few years made, as I owned a '68 Fury and '70 Coronet with 318s and they actually surprised me with how much grunt they had. Chrysler really didn't handle the transition to the new pollution-control requirements in that era very well.
