Brand X ?

Thought this would be a "logical" place for some questions I have about an Oshawa built 1959 Chevrolet Wagon......

I KNOW it's NOT a Pontiac but the engines SHOULD be the SAME,I thought?

OK,the air filter housing looks like 63 & prior Canadian Pontiac 2 bbl? & definately different than US built 59 chevs.

Valve covers have NO Chevrolet script stamped into them.

This car is REALLY unmolested...sat in a barn for about 25 years...most other parts appear to be original...

ALSO...was looking for a source for brake booster overhaul kit?

 Any input would be appreciated.

Well,it seems that finding information on Oshawa built chevys is TOUGHER than Oshawa built Pontiacs & when I compare this Nomad to my US built 59 Chevy, there is LOTS different.....

Figured SOMEBODY here might know......

Here it is........ROUGH but 98% complete & incredibly UNMOLESTED.......original carb,generator,coil,air cleaner,rear shocks.......rad hoses have GM p/n's on them,AC rad cap(might be replacement?)

All of the shiny dash parts & switches are in a box.....

Missing original Wheels, hubcaps, steering wheel & front seat....

The engine turns by hand & SHOULD run........pulled the plugs & found AC R45s green stripes..........green stuff on the plug is likley anti-freeze,hopefully it's just a head gasket & NOT a cracked head or block.

The engine # stamped on the front pass. side of block matches the one on doorjamb S/N tag...what year did they STOP doing that?

Apparently it sat in a barn for the last 25 years or so.........there are NO chinese replacement parts on this car!

Nice find! (from a fellow '59 Chevy fan)

I don't have any useful info for you, but thanks for posting pics.  FWIW, the front seat pattern looks like 1960 Bel Air (I had one years ago).

Good luck and please post progress pics!

wow this is a nice project you have, did you check Impala's Bob?
on the HAMB there's a very talented guy building a 59 SW, maybe he can help you out sourcing parts, here's the build thread:

have fun

They are 65 Custom Sport spinners.......had to put something on there & they look OK for the time being.....

The 66 spinners are more pronounced, they kinda "stck out" where the 65's are recessed.

It'a AMAZING what cleaning the whitewalls & installing a matching "cool" set of hubcaps does.
