HI I have owned my car for 33 years and done a lot of work on it over the years. I had the engine rebuilt and run on a dyno many years ago... I had the engine detailed and that covered up the number plate on the block pad. It is a 283
I finaly took the time to clean off the plate to see if the block number remained. Fortunately it was still there. Now I will have a rusty spot... but I will know what I got.
At one point in the cars life I grabbed a used engine and stuck that in while the current engine was being rebuilt so my question is .... Do I have the original block for the car or is the used engine block currently in the car.

Any more details on the engine would be appreciated. Note the stamping on the end of the cylinder head.
GF full size passenger car 195 hp 283 with power glide trany. suffix was used in 65 to 67
Now look at your build date on your cowl tag. Your engine date of April 28th should be close to your car build date. Maybe with in a six week period before your cars date.

Well "GF" denotes 283/powerglide 195hp.The head is of the 1.70/1.50 valve configuration.Combustion Chamber was 59.669.The casting #'s should be 3755549/3795896.The "549" head was used earlier as a "powerpak" head which was used extensively in 2 barrel applications.Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Much appreciated.. I can now add this to my evaluation report.
The "CT" are my initials that I stamped into the edge of the block when I sent it in for the rebuild.
I also stamped my initials in a number of places on the frame prior to taking it to the metal laundry for stripping and then had it epoxy coated. Just as a precautioon.
