the tailpipes are a bit exaggerated. They should be a 45 with a 45 dump in the corners not a 90 out of the corner type thing. Neat car , love it. Rode around in a white 65 SS with a red interior back in the day ....cool !!, Exc for the Chevelle console that looks quite out of place. Like the power windows too.

looks like wagon tail pipes but I would not cut the car up for that. Factory A/C too, love it! I bought a red with black interior low mile car back in the day for $250. It was traded in on a Honda and I was there at the right time. Painted black and put Vett wheels on it.

Just simply B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. 1965 Chevys have always ranked high in my old car book. If memory serves me well, i think that Chevy won an industrial award that year. I think it was an industrial design award for the year 1965 passenger cars. Back in the mid 1980's my brother and i looked at a 1965 Impala convertable, blue on blue with a 283 V-8, Powerglide on consol with the usual options. I was sold on the car until i crawled under neath. I went into shock at the rust. It was just simply a cosmetic resto. Too bad, i would have loved to own a 1965 Impala rag top but i still think hardtops are better looking cars. Cheers. George.

Trunk would be body colour, plus it looks like a continuous weld across the upper trunk area under the spare tire. Some spares were put on the passenger side of the trunk so the rear antenna was moved forward. Nice car love the back window angle and from Florida wow. Brian

Have kept my eye out for some time now for a 65 SS ( white with red interior ). That's what I drove during university and when first married. And it was a 230 cu in 6 cyl. Guy pulled out in front of us 9 days after we were married and car was a write off.
That is a nice one.
ray - if your question had to do with the exhaust coming out of the side behind the wheels as opposed to straight out the back then yes it came out the side. ( obviously with a 6 cyl mine didn't have duals )
I don't recall the front bumper guard set up looking like that. Looks somewhat unique?...

CAM! I have had my 65 ss for over 15 years and have never heard/seen those bumper guards,once again you have informed me!And Carl S taught me there was a 65 caprice,that was news also! LOVE IT

Somewhere I have a Popular Mechanics magazine from the fall of 1964. It was the new car issue. On the cover was a red 1965 Impala SS coupe, the very reason I picked the magazine up from a used bookstore in Cochrane, Ontario back in 1974.
The 1965 Impala SS was the most popular (highest production) Impala SS of all time.
The factory duals (n/a on the 283) would run along under the trunk drop-off with resonators, after which there would be turn-downs at the rear bumper.
As for what you see as beeing bumper guards, those were standard on all 1965 Chevrolet B-bodies. The optional factory Bumper Guards are an obscure sighting; the fronts were horizontal (see attachments).
Cool. Thanks for the lesson. That's a lot of chrome for a 60's front end. Almost a little bit of a nod to the 50's.
