Nice car! Wouldn't mind having it in my driveway... just gotta win the lottery first, but then I'd probably be searching for 427 Canadian Ponchos!
About the green interior... generally I buck the trend and like green interiors, but this one seems to be suffering from the colour mismatches I've seen in a lot of GMs. For some reason the dash pad and package shelf are a "different" green - they don't blend well with the seats and lower dash. Then the lower dash doesn't match the door panel, the kick panel looks beige and the carpet has faded to more of a gold than a green. Kinda has the appearance as if somebody took a bunch of interior pieces from different cars and put them all in this one. Likely they have faded and changed colours over the years, or maybe the dye lots weren't right from new. I dunno, but to me the mismatched colours are what makes the interior not look so good, not the fact that it's green. (though I know a lot of people who just don't like green interiors, period.)
One of only 1778 made, the 68 SS427 represents the pinnacle of GM high performance at a time when the race was on for big horsepower. This SS being an original 4 speed car makes it that much more desirable
This car is all original except for the engine, transmission and paint.(then it is NOT "all original")
The original engine is long gone, but it was replaced with a 1969 385hp 427 big block.

Very true.
They changed the engine, tranny, and did a repaint. They should have changed the interior!

What??? ... The carpet doesn't match the drapes.........lol
60K will get you a not-messed-with 68 SS427 4 speed with 18,000 original miles if you come to Winnipeg. It's a gorgeous car too from what I've seen. I don't think it's listed online right now but I know it was for sale just a short time ago.

No, just that the interior looks like sh!t with about 10 different shades of green/gold in it. That's all.
When adds say replaced drivetrain etc. I always wonder what happened to the original. The block could be a 454ci unit. The interior looks like a DOG'S breakfast. Brian
green gold was very prone to fading. Saw a 1970 Cutlass convertible where parts of the front buckets had changed to saddle. A 65 Falcon where almost the complete interior was a mottled green / biege colour. Both of these interior other wise were in pretty good condition
That interior is Ivy Gold, sort of a lime-gold. I have seen it inside a Matador Red 1968 Camaro and it wasn't pretty. I have seen it on a Palamino Ivory SS427 and it didn't look bad; also Burnished Brown looks alright with it (Buick-sourced colour on 68 Chevrolet / Pontiac, Canada-only!)
The 427 marker light emblems were offered in several different styles. The early production ones were foil, and said "SS427". They were quite rare to find. So they are being reproduced now?
The later style were cast metal"427" badges with a ribbed background in black.
The third style were foil backed "427" with fade-prone red background. Those were exclusive Canadian pieces. The red background 427 badges / black background 396 badges were sort of the same as the 1967 hierarchy (427 Turbo-Jet used red accent paint while the 396 Turbo-Jet used black). Similarly the Canadian Pontiacs in 1968 used Amber background on the 427 badge while the 396 downward used red.

Thanks for the explanation, I figured it must have something to do with the aging of the materials but I didn't realize that some are worse than others (though I figured black is pretty much a safe bet for keeping its colour).
I'd still like to have it in my driveway... you're not looking at the seats when you are banging gears anyways...
Hey Carl of the 427 variety... can ya lend me $60K?
Many black fabric interiors/carpetting turn purplish.
I remember my friend bought a brand new '82 Trans Am ... within a year the red exterior paint turned a dull cloudy pink. The early TAs had bad red paint.
