Aren't 64 and 65 different where the hinges mount? One of the hinge mounts is flat and one has a step up.

If someone described it as a '65 hood and then sold it as such, ethically and morally they should stand behind what they've sold you. Have you not contacted the individual(s) that you paid for a '65 hood and explained to them that they had been mistaken and that you would like to return it? Please don't tell me that theres someone out there that is that emotionally bankrupt. I hope I'm not stirring up a bees nest here but surely thats not the case, right?

A member did this? Well theres 2 sides to every story but if this is how the deal actually went down then I'm sorry but I just have to say this. Thats sad, very very sad. Shame on him. Unless he is desolate and is in need of food for him and his famly, there is no good reason to behave that way. It boils down to greed and that the dollar is worth more to him than his dignity. I will try to sell that hood for you, I promise when any customers contact us for a '64 hood I will send them your way, just P.M. me your contact info for my records. And to the member that did this, who ever you are, tsk, tsk, tsk, your just nasty, Mr Grinch. (I hope Santa brings you a house full of Karma) Cheers.

Dave I have contacted him. He is a well known member on this site & he listed it on KIJIJI as a '65 hood. I paid his asking price of $350 and drove to his place and picked it up. I was excited to have it as it was perfect and I needed one! My restorer called me last week to come and see him as he had a problem, the hood doesn't line up correctly. He had looked at a '65 Chevelle hood and the lines beside the centre windsplit curl out near the front and mine did not they are straight. I called the man I bought the hood from and explained my problem, asked him if he had another hood and could we exchange it. He did not have one and gave me suggestions about me reselling it. At this point I said I thought he should take it back and refund my $ but he insisted the person he bought it from said it was a '65 hood and I should have known the difference! I don't ever recall doing any parts business where the item was misrepresented and the buyer being left with it. This is not how I sell car parts. I have purchased a "new" steel hood at considerable expense and I am stuck with a mint '64 hood to sell! I see the seller at swap meets and cruise nites and I will never speak or deal with this person again! It sure shows you what some people are made of.

Thanks Dave, there are always 2 sides however the deal went exactly as I posted. Maybe he will read all of this and feel remorse but I suspect he has little or no conscience.

not to add to the pain but in my experience 'new' ones don't fit too good either - no hope for a 'good' 65 hood ?

I have accepted the mistake I made when I purchased the wrong hood timbuk, I did not have one to compare it with and took the sellers word it was a '65. There is no need to continue to bump this, thanks.

Bumping this up as I still have the hood, reducing my price to $300. It is mint with no issues, p.m. me if interested.

Chris, just curious......(learning here) what's the difference between the 64 and 65 hoods?

And are the Chevelle hoods not the same as the Beaumont?

If you look at the pics of the hoods that timbuk posted Greaser the '64 if straighter at the front than the '65 which has a point, also the lines in the '64 are straight and the '65 curl out near the front. The hood is the same for Beaumonts except the holes are all drilled for the Chevrolet letters and windsplit, I think the front molding is the same. I don't see in my NPD Chevelle catalogue a listing for a '64 Hood and the Goodmark one I bought cost me North of $600 by the time I drove and got it. Mine is a "bargain"

Carl it is on Kijiji the Chevelle site and here. I have only had 2 queries on it, 1 from California and "would I ship it" and 1 from Michigan. It would have been nice if the CREEP I bought it off of would have been a "stand up businessman" and took it back with a refund of the $350.00 I paid him. That ship has sailed!

well dam   if it wasn't for bad luck  you have nothing at all

So the 64 is different in both Chevelle and Beaumont?

why don't you call Dale at  Dales Muscle cars and "trade it for something you can sell"

he bought a Chevelle hood from me years ago and drove over here and got it

here here......sucks to hear/see this S H I T but i would like to say that i have bought parts and even a car off this site and ALL the guys ive dealt with have been straight up,even when the motor blew on the car i bought here member was quick to deal with it even tho he was under no obligation to do so.Theres alot of stand up guys here and i sincerely think that none of us like the idea of people selling the wrong parts and blaming the buyer, pisses me off.Hope none of us end up doing business with this guy, best of luck recooping your cash, how is that 300 running?

thanks timbuk, the 300 deluxe is starting to get broke in,it will pin you in the seat right into 4th gear. Next job on it is to change out the 3.08's and replace with the Richmond 3.73's I have.
Taking the hood to Rockton swap meet if not sold by then.
