Acadian with no engine pictures

Not the greatest pics but it will give you an idea of stock comparison to Randy's modified drag link.

Randy's modified  Looks about 2" from center of pitman to center of tie rod                            Mine stock about 5" from center of pitman to center of tie rod

With the wheels straight you can see how far inboard the tie rod pivot point is  compared to the lower control arm pivot. The aftermarket control arms use the same pocket as the orig which means same pivot/bumpsteer.

DSC04757.JPG If you look at motor mount in last pic you can see the difference on the right/pass side tie rod position, mine is inboard or parallel to the motor mount. Randy's is more outboard.

Nice car!
If you ask me, figuring out that bump steer problem and coming up with a great fix like that is hot rodding at it's finest.
Especially considering you did this years before you could look for answers on the internet.

It's pretty bad that GM did such a poor job of designing the steering on those cars.
As you proved, a relatively minor change was all that would have been needed to make them steer great.

That is great! A very straightforward solution to the bump steer problem. The great thing is this does much the same as the expensive lower control arm kit as far as bump steer for a lot less cash and install time. Well done!

Thanks Bob!!  This one change makes an Acadian feel and drive like a Beaumont.

Thanks

Randy
