A few have wanted to see pictures of this for a while now. I finally got time to sit down and upload some pictures.
1957 Laurentian 4dr Sedan, 283/Powerglide, Highland Green Met
Somewhere along the line the 283 was pulled and a '68 307 4bbl was installed and mated to the original powerglide (which leaks like a siv)
She's pretty straight minus a few blemishes and patches in discrete places but the green paint was flaking off and the leading edge of the hood is a bit wobbly with filler
The original wheels were also removed somewhere along the way and replaced with late model GM steels. This made it more difficult to use the pontiac wheel covers I had so I substituted a set of '64 GTO hub caps that suit the look I was after nicely.
The plan is to track down a pre 68 283, with late 50's heads so I can use the factory PONTIAC valve covers and match it to a 200r4 for drivablility
If a nicer hood could be had then all the better
I've had the car since august and have tinkered under the hood a bit getting the charging system running again (don't know what was going through the guys head that hooked that up) and few other odds and ends. I have been very lucky with a few of you generous members who had nearly all the missing parts I was looking for when I got the car.

Will, that is a sweet 57 Pontiac you got there. I am glad to see another one has been saved. The original cast iron powerglides were leakers and there is little you can do about it. The late model tranny will fix the problem in a hurry as well as obvious better gas milage. The 307 is a good engine but i see your interest in having the Pontiac script valve covers, that will look sweet. The original green on your 57 is the same colour as my 57 Pontiac use to be, except mine was two tone green originally. I have a 57 Pontiac Pathfinder Deluxe sedan with a 261 six that i love very dearly. Nice to see what you are doing with your 57 Pontiac and continued good luck with it. Us 57 Pontiac folks got to stick together for the greater cause. Here is a photo of my 57 Pontiac. Cheers. George.
My first car was 57 4 dr 283 4bbl 3 speed in high school in 1963. Put headers on it and beat a couple 327 250 4 speed Chevies and a 59 Catalina ragtop........yup a Catalina here in Canada (Scarboro On) The car was brown and beige and I drove that everywhere. Rolled it on its side going to Mosport in Sept 63 and it cost me $100 to get the roof punched out, dents fixed and car painted cause my brother worked at a dealer ship....lucky. Great memories of a great car. Friend had a similar one to your green 4 door (Harry Tremblay from Willowdale)......any history on your car.

A few updates, The corvette valve covers are off as they were not playing nice with the PCV valve and plain stamped ones are on and that seems to have cleared up a few issues. I'll be investigating the fuel gauge when this wierd weather desides to go away!. More pictures of the progress soon :)
is your block vented at the back side? IE... PVC on the back of the carb and connected to the back of the block.. with the canister inside the lifter valley?

Unfortunately no, it's a '68 block so non vented and needs a PCV valve. Otherwide I'd have painted and used the correct Pontiac valve covers (which I can't wait to put on) with adaptors
Worked a 50's 4 barrel air cleaner under the hood :) AND managed to track down a decent 200R4 to replace my leaky troublesome powerglide. Still on the look out for the right 283 :)
Will that is a sweet looking small block V-8 there. I love the way you adapted the early type air cleaner, much nicer than a tacky chrome air cleaner. Why not paint the motor green and put Pontiac decals on the valve covers? It is real nice to see young guys like yourself enjoying real cars of the great automotive past. Will i hope to see you and your car at any upcoming cars show this season. Cheers. George.

I'm still on the hunt for a 283 to put in. When I find it, it will most definitely be green...although I haven't quite figured out how to get the shade I want and It will look that much better with the correct PONTIAC valve covers. I've been able to get out to two Saturday evening cruise shows in Paris :) but I don't trust the 307 on longer trips yet.

Made some progress Managed to track down a '64 283 with '57 heads. After a few evenings of stripping the chevy orange paint off, it's primed and painted green. A few more details and a coat of clear and we'll be ready to put it in.
