1948 data plate

I have recently acquired a '48 canadian, but I can't find the firewall plate, nor can I see where there used to be one. Would anyone be able to help out with a location, The only thing I haven't done is remove the battery to look behind it.

On the 48 I once owned the data plate was easily visible on the firewall!  Battery was not even close to it!  These plates were fastened to the firewall with large rivets but over the years the rivets would let go and the plate would dissapear!  Hope this is not the case with your car!

I found the empty spot where the data tag used to be. my car has had the battery relocated to that side against the firewall. Is there anywhere else they may have the serial number of the car, this era of chev had it on the passenger floor, but not the pontiac (i looked already). Thank you for the quick replies though.
