Greaser from Cowtown-1963 Pontiac Parisienne (picture now?)

For those who wondered what happened to the 63 Parisienne in Unity, Sask. that was for sale

a couple of years ago......it's sitting in my garage here in Calgary.

I intended to trailer it home from Unity (6 hour drive) in June of 2011, but U-Haul sent the wrong trailer to Unity.

So I did what you're suppose to do with Pontiacs.... I drove it home.

Except for the limited stations on AM, it took me home without any complaints.

I've done nothing to the car but add my 30 year old Cragars (with spinners) and new tires.

The car appears to be a CS but the CS series didn't start til 64, so it's pre CS

Black bucket interior with ping pong ball consule,283,tilt,ps,pb....non electric windows, dual exhaust.

It's been repainted once, mileage says 45,000......I thought it might have gone over once, but I'm not too sure now.

Glad to be here on board.

disbelieffuriousno Sorry about the picture...showed on my computer...so I ass-sumed.........furiousdisbeliefno

Welcome aboard.

Your trailer story is typical when someone else is in control of the situation.

You have bought a nice car....I know it well. The widow lady you bought it from had 2 cars to sell...your Parisienne and a 67 fastback Mustang (390/C6). I worked on the Mustang for her and she it sold it a couple of years ago. On the other hand your car started up after a few 'tweaks' and ran like a top.

Her deceased husband was a cool guy and into cars big time. Sadly he and his twin brother both died of the same kind cancer 2 years apart. I grew up in Unity and spent my formative years there...nice little town but colder than a well diggers a$$ in the winter.

I believe you actually connected me to the car without knowning you did.

I was on this site a little more than two years ago and I believe you were discussing the car with someone else and how you had gone

to help get the car ready for sale and how nice it was....that lead me to go to the kijiji cache sometime in June to see if I could find it.

I didn't know from the pics on kijiji if they were old pics or the car actually looked that way.

I won't mention the lady's name but she said to take it for a test drive (with her and her daughter in the car) and the test drive was from her house

around the block and back...about 4 minutes,.....that's all I needed to see. The car needed very little.

When Marshall from the U-Haul place said I couldn't use the trailer because they sent the wrong one,(too short)

I went to see the widow and late on a Friday night got 7 day insurance to drive it back to Calgary from her agent who lived across the street.

I love the story of her late husband trying to get approval to build a garage for his cars on a lot, and the city not letting him do it

Amazing how he got around the city's rejection.....by buying a rundown house, building a garage and tearing the house down...

what a smart mind to think of something like that.

I took a course at the Reynolds museum in February and was looking for the 70's Chrysler Newport (??) he donated to Reynolds.

But with 5000 cars in the warehouse I think I missed it, although it might be in some of the pictures I took.

Do you know if the mileage on the 63 is original? I thought not but the condition it is in says it may very well be.

I don't know much history of the car and if you can fill me in about anything you know that would be great.

Cheers from Cowtown.

I would wager a bet that the mileage on your car is original....no guarantees though. The condition of the frame, interior, exterior and drive train is indicative of a low mileage vehicle. The 'widow lady' gave me first dibs (her husbands wishes) on the Mustang and your car so I took my time and gave them both a good 'once over'.

The 'widow lady' bought your car at an auction in Saskatoon years ago. She told me it was too nice to pass up and had to have it. I bet she never put 500 miles on it over the years.

The garage story you have portrayed is bang on. Very few people knew what was in it and Ford guys would has a fit had they known.

There used to be 2 Mustangs in there, a 71 fastback 351/C6 and the 67 fastback I mentioned in my earlier post. The Pontiac was stored over at the house and always garaged along with the big old Chrysler.

I know of a couple of other 'treasures' stashed away in Unity but that's for another time.

Congratulations...you have a really nice Parisienne.

Welcome! Nice car and it's always fun to hear the "real" background info on an old car.
