1968 427 Parisienne in FLA is available for $3750 US - limited time offer until we arrange transport to BC
Permalink Closed

How many cars can one man own?  After I bought this car, I came to the conclusion that there is a limit and I have met mine.  I have other cars that all need and deserve attention before this one.  If I bring this car home, it will always be nothing more than a lawn ornament and I think the car deserves better.

Chris the former owner in FLA has been fabulous in getting this car ready for shipping up to BC and we are in the final stages now of making this happen.  However, I decided to give the CDNPoncho dudes out east one more crack at this car while it is in Florida.  Move fast fellas because this offer expires as soon as we have arranged a transporter.  This might be 1 day or 1 week - I will post a note when the car is sold or when it is on its way back to Canada.

Please have a look at the information that is already posted elswhere and the new photos and the following:

Ownership: I own the car - but it is still in Chris' posession. The FLA title is clear and defect free.

Body: The car appears generally complete but the car is VERY VERY VERY rusty and you must assume it needs everything including the frame. YEs the original 427 fender emblems are both there.

Mechanical:  Original #s matching 427 motor was rebuilt but there is no documentation on the work.  Car has not run for many years since rebuild.  Recently Chris installed a near new battery and his mechanic just went through the entire fuel system.  However, it needs some more tinkering because it was running OK until today but died and they cannot get it started.  It sounds like the starter is not getting full power - but I was not there so cannot guarantee what is really going on.   Also note the condition of brakes are unknown (master cylinder is empty).

Good news:  Bona-fide 427, TH400, disc brakes, rallys, new dual exhaust, new aluminum rad, original CDN-only 427 air cleaner.  Remember, this is a number match rebuilt 385hp 427 car that has been confirmed by GM as 1 of 17.  Car comes with protecto-plate.

Here's the engine block codes.

Block Casting code 3916321
Intake date code  K257
Block Date code I127
Front pad T1I28IJ  24244 - (This matches VIN)

$3,750 US - please contact me directly at (250) 709-5955

PLEASE - SERIOUS BUYER ONLY

Hope this car gets the attention it deserves. You won't see much rarer numbers matching than this. Just wish I was in a position to take up your offer Dave.

bargain for someone -NOTHING IS TOO FAR GONE - ANYTHING IS REPAIRABLE (I gotta say I'll be surprised if its truly as rough as both Chris and the new owner are decribing -try Ontario or east of Ontario cars sometime). Even as a parts car its worth that guys !

I think we are all in the same boat confuse  If car was near  we'd be congratulating the member who bought it

I'd pay 3750.00 for the car    thats it   (and I would pull the driveline and part out the rest  (sorry)

I just want to clear up some facts here:

The condition of this car was not a surprise at all.  I dont think anybody could have any illusions about how far gone this car is.  Chris was very clear in all his previous posts and pictures on this car.  ANybody who actually read his words and saw the pictures would know it is very rusty and needs everything.  When I bought it I looked at the mechanical value of the car and totally ignored the body.

Just like 427Carl admitted - I have to be honest that the fate of this car will be to lose its 427 and spend the rest of its life as a lawn ornament (I couldn't bare to crush it).

The ONLY reason I am offering this car on the CDNPonchoBoard is to make sure that anyone who contemplated restoring this car will have another shot at it before it gets parted.

One last thing I want to be clear on - there is no buyer's remorse on my part.  I just love1968 427s here and this car has all of the correct original 427 stuff.  I am confident that the problems are minor and I'll have this baby running within a couple hours of the time it gets here and I will have a total gas doing it!    If no one snaps this up then I will be like a little kid when it shows up here.

The thought of that car being parted is SO painful. However, what you say makes total sense, a lawn ornament is about the best fate for it if it's that rusty.

I know of another matching numbers big block B body with the same dilema for the owner. What do you do with it? It's not worth restoring, yet how can you part out these rare cars???

I wish I had an answer for you Dave. Good luck with it, whichever way your efforts to sell it work out.

All I can say it's a pity it wasn't a year newer. There are very few cars beyond being repairable as it hinges on the skill and determination of the individual rebuilding the carcass.

There is a bright side - the car will be in Canada and I dont plan to destroy or part the body out.

Yes I will use the engine in another car - but the body (less the engine) will always be kept intact.  I can always put them back together if someone really wanted to restore the car.

Given the length of time Chris has posted this car for sale, I think its painfully obvious that there is nobody who really wants to save this car.

There is no doubt many of us desire to but lack the financing/storage/time to give it what it really deserves.

Your plan for it is certainly the next best thing for it.

getting it to BC not running and no brakes is going to cost a ton. From southern Ontario its not that far to go get. I drove down to pick up a rolling frame. If only it were a 4 speed or bucket seat / AC car. Someone has to step up and save it.

we all have a few cars that we would love to own and would put twice whats worth into it just to have one. 67 427 SS Z24 is one I would go that extra for.

Dave that is so true. It has been on this website for sale for years, and all people ever did was talk about it.

I suppose if it were factory black with red or white interior and bucket seats someone would be really hot for it. Sadly, there isn't much of a market for that car. Sad as it is a rare piece of Canadiana.

Dave, you are an honorable man for affording this rare car an 11th hour reprieve. Still, the finances and the storage are holding me back from considering it. You should hear my wife's disdain for the 7 vintage outboard motors I have in a closet... The Chevelle is in my garage while a built engine sits in another garage. I have a couple of canoes on property and am trying to figure where a boat can fit in discretely. I live in a semi in Toronto and really don't have the space.

This Parisienne deserves a frame swap. Regarding combined production between Canadian Pontiacs & Canadian & U.S. Chevrolets, they manufactured probably 2 million cars, one of which could make a donor. The floorpans are available. Inner structure, now you are into cutting up donor cars. Fenders and such probably will rely on the skill of a talented bodyman. The car could be saved, but the Canadians are tapped out and the Americans just aren't feeling it.

A rebody is relatively easy but the v.i.n. won't carry forward.

if you re-build the car around the original firewall  the car is still the real deal.....

From the pics it doesn't look that bad.I would like to see some of the frame, lower rockers, etc.I'm sure the car prob needs a frame off restoration but it deserves that being such a rare car.I would love to own it,maybe later on in the summer it would be feasible or if I sold my 54.Oh to dream of the ones that got away.I hope someone restores this car.Shipping wouldn't be terrible i'd think in the 2000.00 range should get it out to western Canada. If I can get a car from Hawaii to los angelos for under 2 g.

I have a nice frame but will not be doing any restoration of this car - the 427, tranny, rad, PS and dual exhaust will fit nicely into another car.

This Poncho will retire into the field and will be an interesting lawn ornament.  It will look good with those 427 emblems on the fenders and the front end way up in the air.  Maybe I'll put a copy of the GM documents showing the car is 1 of 17 in the window.
