Are you refering to a US Pontiac engine [ Blue block] if so, "it Ain't too easy" & weight would be a problem as well!!!

not in canada in that era. gm canada used chev drivetrains/chassis' to beat down the cost/trariffs in chevs/pontiacs/acadians and gmc trucks

If a person has a nice 66 Acadian with a Heidts front end

most would wonder/ ask why a Pontiac motor?

The 66 Chevy II  always ran Chevy power.....

          71-74 Pontiac Ventura !! ran 350 Pontiacs

you can fit anything in anything    especially if you already have the motor

Most would question installing anything but a Chevy engine in a Chevy car.  I don't see a lot of questioning about installing a Ford 9" , or replacing a 10 bolt with a 12 bolt in a Chevy car, or installing Chevy engines in Ford roadsters or Chevy engines in 70's Pontiacs.  It's a matter of choice.  I know that it will detract from the value of the car, however if I ever need to sell it's easy enough to buy a low cost crate motor, do a swap and sell the Pontiac motor to Pontiac enthusiasts.

Exactly !

as you say  its a matter of choice

I guess we need more info

I presume we would vote against the Pontiac swap, if you are buying everything new or used

If you have a good Pontiac motor..  then it would not cost "you" as much.....

I like the idea of a Pontiac motor in the Acadian. It definitely will not be a belly button install. Aside from motor mounts to be fabbed everything else should not be a hard pull. Both are rear sump motors so cross members won't be an issue and there are TH350 and TH400 trannies available for both applications.

Go for the swap. Like you said you can always put a cheap Chevy in it later.
