Hi

Well Ive have now been with you for some of month.

After a litle welding an lots of brake and electrical work I made the first safe trip and took some photos of my ,1960, 4 door, 261 cui Pontiac Laurentian with manual transmission

Its been in Denmark from new.

I got all the early papers including a list of VIP costumers from the days its drove as a limosine.

In respect for the history I will try to keep it original but I want to replace the doorpanels, headliner and the trunks interior and fix a cracked dash top.

I will keep the rest as is.

Replacements are orderd from SMS fabrics late 2012 - so I hope to see them soon.

Welcome aboard. Your car looks great! Were the yellow sidemarker lamps installed when the car was new or were they required later in the car's life?

Thanks all

As far as I know the yellow side markers has been there from new - I guess they have been replaced once since as the look pretty new. They are part of the Danish automotive regulatives and I think the sidemarkers was a claim from around 1950.

In the 1960's a large car like the Pontiac was very rare in Denmark.

Small cars like VW, Fiat, NSU, Opel, AUDi was people could affort.

The Danish tax system at the time, and now, system puts 180% on top on base price.


The paper shows the names of the persons that has been transported at the time it was a limosine from 1960 -1962.

Most of them Danish VIP's, like ministers, members of the royal family and some of the most important persons in Danish history but also US actors and ministers and royalties from around the World, when they have visited Denmark:

F. L. Smidt
Cary Crant
Mrs. Kennedy
Lis Taylor
John Wayne
etc..
