1953 Glasspar G2 Roadster, NOS, Brand New, Never Built! UPDATE

Cool story and history, but sad to say, this car will always just be looked upon as a "kit car". It is better left unbuilt for it's historical value. It has a very narrow market ... would be great for a G2 aficionado.

This is an opportunity to own a rare piece of automotive history!

Worlds very first production built fiberglass sports car as recognized by the Smithsonian Institute of Technology

Built by Bill Tritt, Father of the fiberglass sports car, in California.

Update:  Was just contacted by Matt Tritt, son of Bill Tritt, and he has informed me that some of the information in this ad was incorrect and he had provided me with more facts.  The following ad has been corrected......

Bill Tritt was a boat builder in California. He was approached by a gentleman owning a Willy's Arrow to build a fiberglass sportscar body for this chassis.       He started his prototype in 1950, and finished it in 1951. The car then went on display at trade shows around the United States. He was then flooded with orders and started production. Most of the bodies were built on 1947 style Ford chassis's and later 2X3 boxed tubing chassis with 1947 Ford suspension and power train componenets.

Bill Tritt was also hired by many car manufacturers:
·        Tritt was hired by Harley Earl, General Motors chief stylist, to consult in production of the Corvette.
·        Tritt was hired by Howard Dutch Darrin (Kaiser/Frasier company), to consult on the Kaiser/Darrin project.
·        Tritt was hired by Volvo, in the development of P-180

The list goes on and on of people who purchased everything from complete cars, to rolling chassis, as well as body kits. There is a lot more information on the internet if you want to research it. Too much information for me to write down.

There were approximately 200 cars, rolling chassis, and body kits manufactured from 1951-1955.

Approximately 65-70 are known to exist.
Only a handful are known to still retain the original VIN number.

Although this is not the only Glasspar G2 out there, what makes this car special is that:
·        This is the only known car that has NEVER been built. It is 60 years old (new)
·        It retains the original VIN number
·        The grill is brand new (NOS)
·        The G2 emblem is brand new (NOS)
·        Windshield posts and frames are new (NOS)
·        There has never been holes cut in the dash for the gauges

Obviously the red car is a picture of a finished G2.

Price: $10,000 or trade for enclosed car trailer.  No junk please!

If interested, please contact me at 1-403-896-4457.
