Rare car. Volkwagon's attempt to go upmarket with an air-cooled platform. They were sold in North America for 1971 & 1972, then it evolved into the 412 for 1973 / 74. The Type 4 line soon died off after the Audi Fox-based Dasher / Passat materialized for the 1974 model year.
I still have the 1972 VW 411 brochure I picked up at the long-gone Central Volkswagon-Porche dealership near Centennial Parkway in Hamilton. Remember seeing VWs & Porches at the same dealer?

i had a 411 and a 412 best car on the highway seats were very comfortable . but in the city it would "hunt" between idle and excellorate. VW tried everything never did get it fixed, going 30mph it was terrible but at 40 it was perfect..
