66 Custom Sport

Is there anybody out there in or near Yarmouth NS that could check out a 66 pont for me. It seems in pretty good shape and although it doesnt have the engine I want the rest looks Good original, I might be able to Big block it later.

I drove by the car everyday for two weeks. The owner lives about 20mins from me. I have seen it at car shows but didn't examine it. He has a couple of cars forsale. I can check it out if you would like.

Yes Please. Its a gold colored one. I looked at one in Ontario last year. The photos were great , but up close it was paint hiding a lot of trouble. This garantees there is no rust and the 327 runs perfect. Just need a closeup of the trunk and frame and door insides to see if teh rust is there . I hear horror stories about all the salt they use out east and I cant believe this is still running. must have got it from somewhere else. He is supposed to be sending more pics. Engine and interior. He only posted 3 one front one side one dash.

thanks - Ill be waiting for a post! There have been so many convertables and a few nice 65 s but I am not interested in either. 66 CS or nothing.

Lloyd

Ok i'm back. Overall the car is very nice. The underneath had zero rust issues. The frame, floor, body supports and inner rockers were perfect. Exterior body and paint shows well for ten years old. Originally a vinyl top car. Not wavy down the quarters or rockers. Most stainless and chrome is good. Rear bumper showing some wear. The doors were not showing any work at the seams. Interior is original and shows well, minor tear in drivers seat. Engine runs well and has 4bbl. Rear end is 10bolt non posi.

Very nice car. Nice interior. It looks largely untouched except for the repaint and under spray. Has engine hold-down cables, and oil heater ... also, still has the bolt-on oil filter like mine.

Car is in excellent condition. Original interior and car was painted 10 years ago with clear coat at 120,000 miles. Transmission was overhauled 10 years ago with all new gaskets on the engine at that time. Lots of spare parts to go with the car. The engine is a 327,  275 HP that works extremely well.

Love those valve covers. I got a 67 Grande parts car with a 327 and the covers look like the 283 style. I wonder if they changed or that was the 67 stock type?

67 327 is a unique valve cover from what I've seen, yes. 66 is like those pictured, 68 has holes in the covers for pcv. Agreed, those early 327 covers are very cool.

ashmore,

Thank you very much for checking that out. Wow! a hoist check thats impressive.

While the under coat makes it look like it has been through a farm yard, it is probably what kept it from rusting away out there. Cleaning up the engine compartment can keep me busy for a while. Paint oversprays and oil stains will have to go to make it presentable. Guess Ill have to see if he still has it now.

Trouble is it will be 2 grand to ship it here.

Thanks again. If you are ever out this way I owe you a beer or three.

Damn!! He sold it that afternoon to whoever waas interested. So I am back looking again. There have been so many 65's and convertables in 66 for sale this last year. The first 66 hard top that come up and its gone in a munite.
I called the guy that has my old car from when I was a teen on the weekend too, and he wont part with it. So I am forced to wander the earth searching, ever searching.........
MAybe I will have to buy a rust bucket and do the work- I dont know when though. Ill die before I get it done I think.
anyway thanks for the help in Canadian Poncho Land.

I guess it's on PEI ... I'll have to look for it!

$2000.00 shipping is pretty good for a solid car ... better than buying a project/rust bucket. You can sink $2000.00 in parts into one in no time (floors, trunk, quarters alone).

Always happy to try and help a fellow car guy. I thought about buying it when it was on the hoist, to save it for you (Lloyd) but i was lacking the cash. I knew anyone seriously considering the car would buy it. I hope it has found a good home. Just to clarify my earlier post, his other cars, GTO judge and cutlass convertible are not forsale at this time.

i have seen that one many times. I am just not into convertables. Its all about the roof line and that 66 only sexy front grill.no interest in Grand Parisienne either Really want th ebig block too. Just like I had. wish I would ahve kept it now . I have been expanding my look ito the US for Catalina 2+2 as well. You get the pontiac engines rather than the GM engines but still teh same car. I like those shark gills the catalina had too.
Just missed agreat one on a site I found called pontiac paradise since I started looking for the catalina.
I will check Candaian Poncho 3 times a week and see what I find - something will come up before I spend the money I hope.
