It Runs!!!!

Hey everyone its been a very long time,  April of last year to be exact.  I apologize for not being active around here for so long, life totally got in the way.  I started a new job in May of last year, and had no time or money at all for the car.

In March of this year I finally got the money and time together to jump back in to working on the car full throttle.  What a circus this has been.  By far this has been the most involved, difficult, frustrating, and time consuming project I have ever taken on.  The research and trial and error on this has been ridiculous..... but it runs!!!!

The wiring and computer part was very difficult.  I stripped every piece of wire from the car  and started with a new American Autowire setup so that when I made my own standalone engine management harness, it would all be new and reliable.  Between Issues with a bad HPtuners interface, PCM and gas pedal compatibility issues, I must have rewired this car three times.... ugh

The car is nuts.  Its not a 600hp Pro Street monster, but for what it is its nuts.  At 50km/h if I punch it the tires break loose.  I have some major traction issues that need to be addressed with a rear end build he he.  Its funny, with the 3.08s I figured it would be a dog.... but its not.  I was thinking 4.11s before I got it running but now im thinking that may be too much.

The car is awesome to drive.  With the 4 wheel disc brakes, and the suspension it drives and handles like a new car.  I have a very long way to go, its a work in progress.  A few gremlins to work out here and there but it feels good after 2 1/2 years just to be able to drive it finally.

There is so many parts in this car I cant put everything in this thread, but my website has all the pics and info up to date... www.ls64.net

Hope you guys like it so far, much more to come!!!

Stay with it!!!! Getting it running & a 'test drive' is all it takes to get your "heart rate' going higher" If the 3;08's "BUST LOOSE" at 50Kph you don't want to go lower ratio [4;11] I'd stay with what you have & see how it works out, milage should be pretty good & still have "some' snap if you can keep your "BOOT" out of it??? Nice project biggrin   My adopted son, wants to do that to his 72 Lemans..     I'm excited, it rocks the tires with 3:08's

enjoy the power and fuel mileage too

Too many guys are "over gearing" their rides...

go back to the 60's and see    GM knew what they were doing with gear ratios

Thanks guys, like I said it's been a battle. I have a ton of work to go yet. Between the body work, interior, and everything else I have my work cut out for me, but at least I can drive it.

So far the gas mileage is awesome, which is a nice surprise for the get up and go it has. It's also nice to turn the key and it fires like a new car ;)
