Help with VIN please

The plate on the drivers door jam only gives the VIN
The data plate on the firewall, near the brake booster, gives a bit more info such as manufacture date, exterior colour, interior colour, options, top colour etc.
Post those numbers, or a pic of the plate, and this group will decipher them.

GMCanada Vintage Vehicle Services will, for a small fee, tell you which dealer they shipped it to and when. Also they have an info package which they include.

Andrew here is some breakdown

5 - 1965

766 - Canadian Pontiac Custom Sport

  67 - Convertible

0 - is the Plant, can't remember which one

   17264  - Serial Number Sequence

You should go to Vintage Vehicle and the GM of Canada Documentation, then you can prove what you have

http://www.vintagevehicleservices.com/options.html

Also the numbers on the firewall plate gives us a lot of info.

My guess is that the production number is a run on of all the the other car GM brands

built on the line at the same time.....

Worked at Chysler in the early 70's in Windsor, and "A" body cars were on the line

at the same time as the "B" bodies.

So possibly the Chevies and others built accounted for the on line production numbers being difference to the total production for Pontiacs for that year.
