Bought a 1976 Pontiac Trash Am

Yes,if that is the original carpet then for sure it has a console delete option. My brother had the identical car-Black/Black 455 4 speed with power locks and air. It had 34000 original miles.Due to unfortunate circumstances I ended up parting it out. The interior was mint!!!!! Don't throw away the motor. Just, tear the top end off and pour oil in the cylinders and after a matter of time it will turn loose. My buddy did the same to a '70 L78 396 that was siezed and now he has it torn completely down saving everything.Just throwing that out there...........

IMG_2364.JPGIMG_2365.JPGIMG_2366.JPGLucky for me nobody bought it in the past two weeks, it was listed in Kijiji in the car section instead of the classic, so less people seen it advertised. The car is totally rusted out from sitting in the grass for too many years, she needs a complete new body. It is the 455 four speed BW Super T-10 option, unfortunately the motor is seized from having the distributor removed :( still there is alot of nice valuable parts in her ...

The owner told me this car came without a console, I have a hard time to believe this, could a 1976 Trans Am be ordered that way ? I notice she doesn't have many options ...

I am pretty sure it could be a no console car, yes. I was at the Pontiac dealership from August 1975 until Feb 76 and we sold a couple of T/A's at that time.

Yes they came with no consoles unless ordered with a 4 speed. My 76 455 4 speed was no console.

I will be parting this one out for sure and no I will not throw the 455 away, lol ... When I take the heads out, I I'll soak the pistons with Marvel mystery oil. I just got back from Autopac and they have no record of this car ever been registered ??? Weird or what ??? So if I can't own the car, It can't go back on the road.

Thanks guys, Eric I punched in the vin # and unfortunately it did'nt work. Tha thing is, the past owner I bought the car from ( He signed the biil of sale which states this vehicule is free of all liens and encumbrances ) had never registered the TA under his name, go figure ... Anyway it will definetly be a parts car.

Ray, I will start another thread about the TA parts and finds soon ...

Does autopac's system only know if it was registered in MB?  Try calling SK or ON dmv's to see if they can run the VIN or maybe it was a US car?

That's one of my favorite years for TA's.

www.sgi.sk.ca/online_services/vin/vin-faq.html

That lets you check a vin in sask for free but only 9 years back. I know at one time it cost $10 to do a Canada wide vin search.

With regards to registering in Sask, in the past I just signed an affidavit and away I go.
