I heard that there was over 100,000 People there today. That's crazy.

Thanks for more pictures ... cool stuff, but it makes you kind of sad to think how many of these vehicles could have used, and maintained over the years. Old man Lambrecht sure had a strange logic in not reselling/selling these cars in their prime.
Some of these tools you only see in service manuals ... cool display:

Well this was action today and some deep pockets and I will always question their decisions. Corvette pedal car sold for $16,500, Cameo pickup 140 g., Corvette pace car a bargain at $80, that red 63 I showed yesterday was $97,500, couple little Corvairs were both at $40 g. and change. The 59 four doors averaged about 15 grand. Most people I think were in shock but it was interesting never the less. Will show you a couple pictures of what you could buy.
Got in nice and close to the auctioneer's trailer. I liked the lady who is the owner of the auction company the best, just me.
This 396 auto car could be had for $27,000. It only had 78,000 miles and needed a little roof repair.
This truck went a little higher than the rest because it was a Custom. It went for $39,000 while the rest of the other new trucks averaged right around 20 g.
This was their tow truck from days gone by. It had a real cool hand winch on it. Forgot to write down what it went for.
A picture of the crowd, lots of people today. I liked the way they did the sale. They sold some parts for an hour and a half and then went into the best stuff they had right away.
Lots of media there the last couple of days. Top Gear was filming an episode when we left and the History channel has been following the sale as it went along.

good for the auctioners, good for the estate, good for that town!
As my friend and I were leaving this afternoon the first thing we said is what can this town do to bring the people in like this again. Won't happen but went to a restaurant at the edge of Yankton here tonight and it was just packed. Hotels are booked up within a 2 hour radius, talked to one guy and he was driving close to 3 hours each way. Hotels, restaurants, and gas stations did some pretty good numbers the last couple days.
Well after a pretty good day here I have decided to pass on the last day of the auction and will start heading back west tomorrow. Basically all the good stuff sold today. Originally I had planned on going south to Oklahoma City and back up through Colorado but I found out that the one person I was going to visit in Denver won't be there when I pass through and with all the recent flooding I am not sure what roads are affected. It would have made a pretty long trip for just an evening visit so I phoned them today and said I will try catch them another time. So will rest up tonight, fuel up in the morning, and point her towards the Pacific. Part of the decision was because I have been able to enjoy so many different things along the way thanks to many great people.
$27,000?...you got be kidding....not only the roof that needs more than a little repair, look at the rust around the rear wheel lip and bottom of the front fender, plus the added crunch in the quarter and trunk and trim.
And that's only from the side you can see........
I think someone got carried away with their cheque book to fork over $27,000 for this car....396 or not.
......probably never see such a event again of such magnitude. Things are worth only what someone will pay for them, and obviously some people think alot of these cars are worth big money to them. The blue SS396 chevelle probably rolled in the snow, had rain pouring in the back window since about 1974 and still fetches 27K , unreal. The 63 with one mile is totally weathered and can not be cleaned up to be presentable as a new car again, $97.5 K is unbelievable and the car is not even a SS. Great entertainment, and the auctioneer and dealership owners can retire after this one.
The SS396 had a tree fall on it years ago. It was on Cars In Barns website a few years ago. It was apparently parked when new. So years of leaves falling inside the car would have rotted out the quarters.
