1970 Pontiac Executive Rear Valance

New member here.  Have several BOP cars.  Like the styling better than Chevys.  My current problem is finding a good rear valance for my 1970 Executive 2 door.  My rear valance has three dents in it and would like to find a better one - have looked for several years and can't find a good one.  All Bonnevilles, Catalinas and Executives I have seen being parted out have the rear valance missing or looking like a pretzel.  Guess they get pulled off by gravel roads or salvage yard workers.  I have seen a 1969 Catalina with a pretty good one.  Can anyone tell me definitely whether a '69 and '70 are the same???  They look highly similar but don't know whether they are actually the same or not.  Pontiac parts book were of no help - but, maybe I wasn't reading them correctly.  They tend to be confusing to me.  Please help if you can.  Thanks for all your help - I really enjoy reading the threads.  I can sympathize with what some of you are going through.  Finding good solid information on these older cars is getting harder and harder to find - but, I am having a blast now that I am retired.  Thanks Again,  BOPManiac

Welcome to the gang!!!  Unfortunately I can't comment re the 69 & 70 rear valances being the same, but I can comment that the 70 US Pontiac and the 70 Canadian Pontiac rear valances are different.   The Canadian ones have scallops in the bottom edge above the tail pipes, whereas the US ones do not.   You can see the Canadian Pontiac rear valance in the photo.

While front valances are difficult to find, rear valances are extramely difficult to find.

seventy2plus2 - Thanks for the tip. Yes, I see the scallops you mentioned. Would look nice on my car - if I could find one. Yes, you are most correct - finding the rear valances are extremely - extremely hard to find. I have been looking all over the USA Midwest (I am from Kansas City) - and simply can not find one. I found four of these full size Pontiacs in a salvage yard in Nebraska and EVERYONE was missing the rear valance. Do you happen to have a spare Canadian rear valance??? Do you know of any salvage yards in your area that might have one??? Thanks Again for your most helpful tip. I am beginning to like the Canadian versions of these cars. I have only seen a few in my neck of the woods but, when I do - I chase them down (on foot if necessary) so, I can look at them up close. I have always loved Pontiacs!!! BOPManiac!!!

I don't have a spare, and I haven't been able to find a decent one to use as a spare.  I've scoured all the auto yards in an extended area, and nothing.    I think I've only seen one US version on ebay, and that was quite some time (likely 5-10 years) ago.

Ok - Thanks!!!  I will be following up on the 1969 valance I found in a salvage yard.  I am going to take my 1970 valance to the salvage yard and physically compare it to the 1969 valance.  After looking at many photos of these valances - it might be possible that the differences are in the mounting hole locations.  I will let you know what I find.  I will take photos and send those to you if I can - with a description of the differences.  I am retired now so, I have plenty of time and this kind of stuff is fun - it's like a treasure hunt!!!!  BOPManiac

In 1988,I was being tailgated by a newer Cadillac on the local 4 lane highway.

My 69 rear valance dragged then blew off.

Needless to say, I was no longer being tailgated.

Miss that car !
