Hi Im Jim from sooke on the island{vancouver Island)
Just joined up to the group!!!Have been looking at your postings for a couple of years and finally got back to work on my 66 sd.
A great info site.
Too start off I have a question about the emblem on the front fender of the Canso, mine has the word Canso with three leafs on it,shouldn't it be 9 louvers?
this emblem is on the front fender(s) Any pictures if car before resto started?
I looked up the numbers and it is a true sd but when I got the car these emblems were on the front fenders?I think it was hit in the front end one time.Do you know what these emblems are off of?if someone could use them I'd be willing to let them go cheap if there not correct for my car.Thx Jim. p.s. Im not a good typer so this takes me a while.

Sounds great nice its a SD someone will want emblems I'm sure do you have a lead on louvres yet?
I used to be a slow typer Try using both index fingers lol lol
I do have pic's of the car when i got it,but that was in 2003 and there on film.I'll try to take a pic of the pic so I can post them.My kids were 2 and 3 and now the oldest is a teen.Should get the car done so he can drive it to grad.I also have a 57 belair HT that I restored before the kids came along. Will try to post a couple of pics of it also.THX Jim
Perfect, that works! I wonder why it's like that? Like you say, must be regular Canso trim put on at some point.
Does it have the SD upper moulding all the way along each side, on the upper body line? That, plus the louvres would be the unique pieces that SD had which are a bit tough to find.

Yes I have all the trim except the 1 c moul for the trunk,It was a complete driver when I got it for my wife, since I had the 57. But she wouldent drive it because the paint was starting to flake off.Thats a goood thing I guess otherwise it would have never got a resto.
I know ,but I do have a original radio i will put in.My 57 has the org radio that works, nothing like the sound of a old radio! My dad has been repairing old radios for decades,he fixed the one in my first car 1950 dodge deluxe everyone called it my HAPPY DAYS car like mr c's.He has fixed many of my freinds old radios and has 1000's of tubes and vibrators(used in 40's &50's cars). If you know somebody stuck to get there radio fixed let me know.He doesn't charge much, its more of a hobby for him since he retired 10 years ago.Thx Jim
'64 Parisienne CS "barn find" - last on the road in '86 ... Owner Protection Plan booklet, original paint, original near-mint aqua interior, original aqua GM floor mats, original 283, factory posi, and original rust.
Welcome Jim,The Tin Man is the way to go for original pieces, he is great to deal with and has an excellent supply of quality pieces. A great supplier and if Dave doesn't have the fender louvres they are available through Year One (REPOPS) as they are also found on a '66 Pontiac Tempest. You will need 18 (9 per fender). Dale's repops the Canso script emblems that go on the back upper quarter panel (2 required). I have saw them and they are excellent quality but not cast material (as the originals) but made out of aluminum and highly polished.
ARCADIAN
Welcome. It's nice to see another Acadian saved. I think a radio delete car would rarer . The fawn interior was quite popular back in the day.Best of luck on the restoration.
Here are a couple pics of the top side of the car,as you can see my garage is only 11.5 wide by 22 long.Makes it a bit hard to work on but I get more room when I flip it on its side.It took me about 1/2 hr to figure out how to post pic and text.I hope it worked and Im not creating a mess.Thx Jim
