That is Joe & Suzie Lizon's car. They also own a red convertible version of that car, yes, another L-79 Sport Deluxe.

I saw that white coupe in person at the 2006 Northern Chevelle Gathering in Grand Island, N.Y. It is a beauty! One minor thing is the use of rocker moldings on that car rather than the correct lower moldings that run across the lower fenders, doors & quarter panels. It looks complete with the moldings that are on there now but they are not exactly the right ones. Since the car is done, if it were me I'd leave it as is until such time that I had a complete set of correct moldings ready to go on and a repaint in the offing. That would be a long time from now.

It has a 10-bolt rear which is not what it is supposed to have. In 1965 the 12-bolt rear was introduced and GM put it behind all 327s that year before reverting to 10-bolt rears on 327 cars for 1966. In 67 some L30 cars (327 275-horse that year) when backed by an M20 4-speed would secretly get a 12-bolt rear, and that carried into 1968.

That L-79 car should have a 3.31 axle ratio. All 4-speeds in 1964 & 65 were early Muncies, even on 283 cars. The Saginaw 4-speed came out for 1966 and was used on cars under 300 horses.

 Also it looks to me like the cowl tag has been off the car. It has red over spray on it but not in the holes with no rivets! So I ask you this is this tag off this car?

         The car was RED new   probably never been off  ....


 then why is there no red paint in the top two holes? Would they not also get over spray on them at the same time as the tag?

It would appear so. Possibly there were no "correct" rivets available when the tag was removed/replaced way back when.

Not so much tough, it's just being stated what would come up in conversation if the car would be shown and judged at a high end car show where authenticity is important.

A rare car like this will always come under fire if anything appears that would make a potential buyer question it's originality.

Think of it this way-

If you were looking at one of the few 67 2+2 cars with a 427 4 speed and you saw the cowl tag was red on a black firewall, wouldn't you hesitate a bit? I know I would if I was dishing out 60K for a car (which I would never be able to do anyway!)

I am NOT bashing this car, it's beautiful, and as I recall it's a documented L79 car.

You, I and most of the people on this site possibly are not interested or have the funds to buy it anyways... so, why past, IMO, this serious a judgement? If he gets what he's asking, obvious there was someone interested and more power to him... As for my red tag comment I was just adding to 427 Carls list of incorrect items. I am not a expert on these cars or any other for that matter and was just putting out there what would come to my mind if I were looking at a $60,000 car and seen the tag!

He bought the car for $25,000 less than 2 weeks ago from a guy I know in Airdrie.
 
Paint and bondo is cracking. Clutch is pretty much hooped. Car has been driven really hard and cannot be run on the highway.

If you are looking for a decent car to beat the snot out of around town this may be the car for you, but not at the rediculous $50,000 price tag this joker is asking.
It took my friend in Airdrie 2 months to sell this car for $25,000 and there is good reason for that.
Please dont get taken on the steep price tag of this bastardized car. It is a $25,000 car, but nothing more.

I have to agree with 67 Poncho. There seems to be a lot of negative (or more like smart ass) comments directed at member's (and non member/s) cars on here. I can understand comments or questions like "Is that steering wheel correct" etc but some folks are pushing it on here. From here on in if you wouldn't say it to the owners face then don't say it on here.

Well, I see there has been a massive amount of editing that has gone on since my last visit.. Listen, I am not here to ruffle feathers either and here to enjoy the site... But let me guarantee you this, if it were my car, and it has on numerous time in the past with car show lawyers, I have been known to tell the offending person(s) to "fu*k right off" and if they don't like it, keep walking or what I like to say, "where's yours here in the show so I can pick the fu*k out of it"....

 Yes, we know there are things out of place with Joe's car, my car and EVERYONE elses car but.................. My Dad always use to say to me in instances like this, "if you have nothing nice to say, please don't say anything at all"... It's called respect... We don't know the person, their history nor possibly the cars history....

 I would shutter to think what many people have thought of my old wrecks that I haven't heard..... But, who gives a sh*t, right?

I hear ya 67 Poncho-I don't personally take any of my cars to shows anymore-way way too many know it alls that pick all your hundreds of hours of hard work to pieces.When I finished my 68 wagon I took it to my first car show in a long time.I had a handful of older guys compliment my work etc..,but most people told me that this was wrong,that was wrong etc..I sat there all day and listened to it for 7 hours.Finally I asked the last two idiots that were cutting down my car with all the things that were not correct" what did you guys drive here today" They told me to F off!! Unbelievable.So I still love my cars and really enjoy making wrecks back into beautiful classics-but as far as people picking them apart-they can go sit on a knotty tree limb for all I care.The big green giant will get them everytime.( jealousy is nasty)
