Looking For Help With Horn Issue

Hi Gents,

Does anybody have an exploded diagram of the steering wheel assembly for a 1966 SD Beaumont... it has the deluxe steering wheel and I am having a hard time getting the horn to work properly. If I make contact with the metal ring(Concave side down) to the steering wheel nut I get horn(I am assuming it acts as a ground) ....but once the wheel is all installed nothing. I know its probably something simple but its working me over.furiousfuriousfuriousfurious

Suggestions, tips??

Thanks

Kevin

Try the following:

If it doesn't help, you can search the site. I'm sure that your answer will be there.  Good luck.

......sounds like maybe you are missing the spring loaded contact pin or it has a broken wire. ????

Have you tried flipping the concave steel disc? I thought they went the other way. But it's been a while.

Good morning!!

Got her figured....the contact post that goes through the wheel to the cancel cam was in a hole and not making contact with the concave side of the metal ring. I also decided to put all the parts that came with the vintage wheel back on it instead of the new parts incase there was a difference in the dimensions/tolerances.
Thanks for your help guys!!

Next project...get the wiper fluid motor pumping and figure out why the wipers are moving slowly.

On a negative note...the clothes dryer crapped out this morning and I have to go fix that now...oh well. Such is life.

Cheers,
Kevin

I have to do that sometime also Kevin.

There is a tiny kit with o-rings, a plastic housing, and diaphragm that you can get cheap if it's the root of the problem and not the motor itself.
