  • Description

1976 Indianapolis Replica Pace Car 1 of 1325 built, very rare car.

Car was bought in 1976 by the original owner and I purchased the car *last fall. The unit has been serviced and stored in a heated garage since new. You must see the car to appreciate how through care and attention to detail a car that is 38 years old could be in such pristine condition.

Car has the following
Power Windows
Air Conditioning
Cruise Control
Aircraft handle shifter on center bucket console
350 Buick engine
turbo 400 Transmission
Hurst Hatch Stainless T Bar Roof

*The only reason I am selling the car is that I have a 3 car garage and it is full ,I need to make room and my other car hold more sentimental value to the family.

Very nice. Same comfortable buckets that my Firebird had. Alas, I barely have enough cash to put gas in my daily drivers!

.....First one I ever seen was on a car carrier coming into Saskatoon headed for the dealer, a white 76. It was awesome and just stood out. They made them in white and silver as I recall, 76 and 77 I think it was. I have something here even more rare than the car, a factory 8 track tape that came in the glove box if you had the player in your new Free Spirit .

Buick paced Indy in 1975 and 1976. Production Centurys topped out at 350 cubes as nobody was in the mood to buy a 455 after 74.

The 1975 Pace car was white with red & blue Free Spirit graphics and a Hurst Hatch T-roof. Under the hood was a non-compliant 455 Stage 1.  Replicas ran 350-4 Buick  & TH350 (I don't know why people claim TH400.)

For 1976 they were silver with the Hatch & Targa Band. The actual Pace Car was lightened  and ran an experimental cranked-up turbo V6, the milder production version due for 1979. Again replicas ran 350-4 Buick  & TH350. Can't fault that.

Knowing what buggers those cars are to restore makes the featured car all the more valuable. It looks like a really nice example of the marque. 15 is pushing it but it isn't unreasonable judging from my armchair.biggrin

I think at 15 it is a good deal if it is what it says it is.Survivor cars are always going to bring more $$.For the most part 15 Gs now days gets you a muscle car with BONDO - import buckets - funky floor shifter and a greasy V8.

The locals may have to make vodka with their potatoes if our Russian supply dries up. What would we do without a Caesar?

All the best stuff is out West  winkAlberta Pure Vodka.jpg

Caesar or Bloody Caesar is a cocktail created and primarily consumed in Canada.

It was invented in CalgaryAlberta in 1969

Like I said.....all the best stuff is out West....biggrin

Of all the "malaise era" cars this is one of the best lookers. I know, I know, it's slow stock smogger Buick.
But that car screams mid '70s, besides its mint, original &rare. Indy Pace Car replicas help keep values steady over the long haul. Think of it as a RRSP that you can enjoy as it matures in value.
They are only original once, or......remove the 350 and slip a 455 to really wake it up!

It would be an easy swap Todd. Put 350 decals on the 455,most people would never guess

Indeed. Did you know that if you put an aluminum intake on a 455 Buick it weighs the same as a small block Chevy? Yes! It's true!
