1958 Pathfinder 2-dr Wagon Project

First of all, thanks to the Admins for accepting me aboard this very interesting site!

I should mention I spent 30-some years "movin' metal" at a now-excised Pontiac-Buick-GMC store in Eastern Ontario, so the indiosyncrasies of Canadian Pontiacs have been a long-term issue with me...

I have a very good buddy, and former co-worker, in the Kitchener-Waterloo area who is rehabbing a '58 Pathfinder 2-dr Wagon, a fairly rare piece these days (pic included). This car will be a driver with a pro-tour flavour: blown 6.0L LS with 6L90E trans to a Fab-9 diff, and C6 Vette front suspension with 4WDB. This is not his first frame-up complete rebuild, so the finished product should be well-executed and filled with "interesting" details.

As an aside, I went to Jr. Public School with a young gal whose father bought a '58 Pathfinder Sedan Delivery BRAND NEW. Red 'n White two-tone. It fell off a ferry, early in its life, was "dried out" and driven some more until electrical gremlins terminated it, prematurely. It sat in a wrecking yard in Kingston for YEARS 'n YEARS...until it finally met with the crusher, early '80s. It's previous life was well-known, and no one seemed to want to rehab it. I should mention that one of the occupants didn't make it out of the car when it sank...

Thanks.58 Pontiac Wagon.jpg58 Pontiac Int.jpg58 wagon.jpg

That's a great looking project and looking forward to future pics. Welcome to the site from Winnipeg. I see your in Kingston. Lived there years ago when I was a kid. My dad still lives there on Abbey Dawn road.

Thanks for the kind reception, folks.

The car was in overall very good shape, as apparently it spent much of its life in Saskatchewan. Originally a 261-Powerglide car.

He has all the Pathfinder trim, as well as the horizontal tail gate moldings from the Laurentian Wagon. He's considering two-toning it, scallop and (possibly) roof for factory-style contrast.

One thing he IS on the lookout for: a period-correct ROOF RACK. Anyone?

Here's the Wagon page from the '58 brochure:
