70 LeMans GTO Clone

Still have my 58 & now working at a new job. Doing a frame off restore of a 70 Lemans Sport with less than 30 000 k. We are doing it as a GTO clone with the original 350BB, & imaculate original interior. Not sure if we are staying with original dark green paint or switching it up. Switching to disk brakes all sround and lowering the chassis 2" front and back. I will post pics as we do the build.

When you say 350BB do you mean an American Blue Block? wink

Curious what is the difference between the Lemans and GTO?

 Good one!

The 70 Lemans had chromed bumpers, regular exhaust & turn downs, and a flat hood. If you wanted a Ram Air III you ordered a 400 4-barrel and a manual trans - instant sleeper. The GTO had all the image stuff like scoops, quad exhaust tips, rubber front bumper and some form of big power starting at 400 cubes. The GTO also came standard with upscale interior with buckets as standard.

It costs the same or more to build up a 350 blue block Pontiac as opposed to a 400, that is why a 400 is such a common upgrade. The 350 HO (last built in 69) actually cost more to build than the 400 2-barrel, so Pontiac dropped the hot 350 and pushed 400s.
