You know I like the old system of pointing out inconsistencys better. For some of us it was a learning experience if you were not 100 percent sure about what is or is not correct about specific cars! This forum is a learning experience for many of us and the forum should be open to allow us to learn what is or is not correct, and what problems to watch for on cars that may or may not be for sale.

I agree ... I came VERY close to packing it in. I don't even post car ads anymore, and every car is so NICE! No further comment.

Yeah, I miss that educational aspect of this forum as well. Now I typically try not to post any comment on a for sale car that might be taken the wrong way.
What I don't understand is that if you're putting a car on the market for $30,000+, , then you should have a thick enough skin to handle when it comes under scrutiny. As far as I'm concerned, anybody paying that kind of money is paying for the correctness of the car (if it's a restoration) as well as the quality of the work done (or the originality, whatever the case may be). Therefore the seller should be open to criticism and be ready to defend it (which the seller did, if I recall correctly, in explaining the deviations from 100% correctness).

Todd, this is not a slam at you or any mods as I know how difficult it is to keep everybody happy, but I would like to see the rules relaxed a little about criticism of 'for sale' cars. After all, if the seller reads it he/she is free to join the board and defend the criticism - if they can't then the truth has been told and potential buyers will have had warning....
The last car I posted that caused a stir, was listed on a American website, and was on consignment... It is a gorgeous car and I was excited it had been listed twenty-five thousand less...
It did/does seem that anything posted on the Internet is fair game for personal comments..
Perhaps we could try to either pass along constructive comments or just say nothing..
e.g. just because you don't like low-riders or donks does not mean you have to call a car a p.o.s.
e.g. its sounds nicer to say things like "if that was my car I would remove the red heater hose lol
Some common sense and some compassion would sure help....

That choice of paint color really works well on the car. I really miss the days when there was a great choice of colors available for any car, not just the specialty ones (eg. Corvettes and Camaros).
Not being an expert on Chevelles, does the fact it's a "post" car indicate it's a 300?

LOL... hey I'm only elderly in my mind, not my age...
Agreed. They are only cars, just "stuff". It's really the people that I value in this hobby - the cars are fun and interesting, but when all is said and done it's the relationships garnered that really make the difference.
this car used to be local to me - it was an option to purchase for a guy who came to look at my bench seat 67 SD396 beaumont (back in 2006) - I sorta talked him into buying the chevelle - he was from Oshawa might still be the same owner

yes, a chevelle post is a 300 or 300 deluxe
'68 and '69 there were also 300 deluxe sport coupes (hardtop) built
'69 was the only year the SS396 option was also available on 300 post cars
this '69 is a 300 deluxe with added SS396 emblems

We sold our 300 Deluxe SS396 hardtop a couple of years ago. These cars, on the outside, had all the same trim as any other '69 SS396 Chevelle. The interior was all 300 Deluxe except for the trim bar above the glove box. Ours had the black interior with the twin skunk stripes on the seats. Most people don't even know that GM built such a combination and it sure got lots of looks at cruise nights and shows. Having the GM of Canada documentation pretty well convinced the doubters. A friend from the Kingston area has a very nice blue L78 300 Deluxe car. It's a show car but does get the occasional run to the Kingston cruise night. He had a get together at his place a few years ago. Two of us came with 300 Deluxe hardtops to line up with Don's post car. If I were in the market for a car, I'd certainly take a look at it.
