I guess the boat won't going too far from the dock this summer! It will be .20cents per litre more than road price. I got rid of the twin engine SeaRay and put a single big block460 BayLiner in its place. It's going up for sale soon as it hits the water. May have to give it up again until I can retire and get a sailboat
I have not put the jet skis in the water in 5 years because of the cost of fuel back then.
Interesting often wonder why people buy expensive boats and stuff and then fuss about fuel prices ? like beer drinkers and smokers and exotic car owners complaining about gas

I remember selling my '74 Vette back in 1985 and people calling and looking at it and asking what kind of gas mileage I got with it.......???
Got to the point I refused to discuss the car anymore with those "gas mileage " folks.........just told them to go buy a Toyota and walked away.

the last ski I bought back in 2000 burns 17.5 US gal in an hour at WOT. Do the math on that and they built boats with twins of this motor
Sold my boat 7 yrs ago when moorage was 10.00 a foot per month, didn't want to sell, took me a year to restore. 26x10= 260 mth moorage. Was 300 to haul in and out at end of season, 450.00 to fuel up @ 85 ltr when put in water, maintanance etc. 2000.00 before I left the dock. My dad had a 40' tolly craft, twin 350/325 hp 48gph wide open. There is no downhill in a boat, always pushing. Out of 6 of us that used to own boats, 0 owns a boat now ( fuel & moorage ). Didn't want to sell, nice old boat!
That's what I heard on CBC yesterday. I know some of you folks are close to that already. This time the blame falls on the weak Canadian dollar. Funny, I don't remember paying $1.55 when the Looney was only worth 85 cents compared to the US dollar. It's currently $1.39 here in PEI
And the pipeline or lack thereof. With or without Keystone, we're gonna pay, pay, pay.
so only another $2-300.00 for fuel. Not much when you take in consideration of the cost of the boat. You can spend that much on dinner out a couple of times. If you sell the boat you most likely will loose $1000.00,s Buy some beer, enjoy the boat and have fun.

When it come to boats it's not just fuel prices, moorage @ 10.00 foot, maintenance, paint, stain, bottom, motor, safety equipment ( flares and a lot more ) etc $$$$$$$. Have been boating all my life, can pull out a chart and plot a course from toba inlet to sooke . Enjoyed every minute of it, but at some time, you have to justify the means. I miss it a lot, but it was time to cut the cord and not just because of fuel prices. One day I will take my kids up to Desolation Sound, warmest water north of Mexico and yet 5 min away your standing under a glacier, just beautifull country. Enjoy what you can afford and boating was getting a little to pricey. Sold the boat for almost what I paid for it, and that was 7 years ago. If I was to hang onto it until today it would not be a "penny wise" I would probably get 1/2 as much as I sold it for. I just wish we all could afford to keep all our toys, past and present.

Just keep ENJOYING LIFE ... what are you going to do about gas prices ... It's just a waste of your time and energy worrying.

You could always buy an electric car like the Nissan Leaf. I read that they cost $40/month to run. I can't see one of them surviving PEI's roads and climate though!
