67 Beaumont Rocker and Belt Line Trim

I see there was an article on the same subject for a 66 SD, can anyone provide me with details or a side profile picture of what the trim for a 67 SD would look like?

All I have is the sales brochure, and it is not very clear.

Thanks

Same as Chevelle, ribbed with black paint in the grooves

Are you 100 per cent sure about the black paint Capt.Beaumont? Yes, same trim as the Chevelle, BUT without the black paint in the grooves is the info I received from an owner of a 67SD with original trim.

Thanks Carl,

Really REALLY nice convertible, so if I understand the side picture,  shows the car as it was original, and in your "owners" opinion the rocker trim was the same as chevelle without the black detail ?

Can these rockers trim be purchased ? Are the rally wheels the originals?

Sorry for the many questions, I am getting the same questions, and I don't know the answers or what was original .

Thanks

Dale

rallies were never original disbelief  always hub caps, or wheel cover, or wire covers...     The rockers are the same as Chevelle (I'm told as well)   heres the original covers

Thanks, I appreciate your comments.

Now I am on the hunt for rocker trim.

I don't have any original caps or wire wheels, so I'll  leave my GM rallies on. A buddy of  mine picked up on the fact that they weren't even a GTO or a Pontiac rally wheel ( 5 versus 6 slots).. Hummmm,

Thanks again Carl

Hey Carl, I noticed your 67SD didn't have chrome wheel well trim and the gills are all chrome instead of half painted? What's up with that? I thought all SD's received wheel well trim. Great look'n car!

Same rocker trim as the chevelle....the black faded to a charcoal over time. The fins were always painted from the factory, but since they are chrome under the paint some strip the paint and leave them like that (I did the same, at the time I couldn't bear to paint over the new chrome!lol). I don't think it's been discussed on here, but it's a high likely hood all SD, including early A51's came with wheel well trim...

Thanks AK 67SD,

I found the rocker trim pieces through Ecklers's , I'll figure out something regarding the black detail paint,

I also agree with the three side louvers, when I purchased mine they came in Chrome, and I installed them as such. An acquaintance of mine who actually owned both a 66 and a 67 SD back in the day is really beside himself saying that chrome louvers don't look right and that mine are not period correct. He had not much good to say about the Chrome louvers. I know  my car is not 100 %,  it is a Custom 2 Dr HT Sport Coup with the A51 option, right from GM Vintage Auto Records, so at least some of the car trim is correct.

I can't believe, the amount of detail it is taking completing this project, another question for you guys , in your 67 SD 's are your window crank handles equipped with Chrome or Black knobs?  Based on my acquaintances recommendations,  I bought a new set of window cranks with Chrome knobs,  did I do right ?

Regards

Dale

I had two blue  interior cars with blue knobs, a black interior car with black knobs, the red interior car was missing the handles

the rocker moldings on all of them were frost in the grooves rather than black like the Super Sport Chevelle I had

quarter panel louvers are supposed to be partial body color

Dale, unless you are really trying to build your car as 100 percent original, I wouldn't worry about some details... Build it like you want to, to be reliable and enjoy! Do you really want to drive on 14" bias plys and a point distributor?....maybe.... My car came black Interior, black knobs on the cranks...

back in the day body shops were famous for ripping off the fender mouldings and NOT replacing them...

...this was mainly due to rust, remember these cars in the 60's/70's were also winter driven and the wheel wells

took a beating........a little bondo over the holes and new paint...........the SD definitely came new with mouldings
