Noticed the underside of the hood is black (picture #43).

....is that correct or should it be the body colour?

I think it is supposed to be white.

Lots of non original things on the car, fender emblems, all the accessory brackets and pulleys. It sure is pretty though..

It's a pretty car indeed, but a lot of cash for one with obvious imperfections.

Those skirts don't look right on that car for some reason...

Mine also is black. And looks like it was never repainted under hood.

Hmm, I may be wrong about the underhood then. Time to look at some others.

This car was part of the John Scotti collection sold at Auctions America in the Auburn Spring auction this year for $17,600.

For asking $24,900 I would have thought this owner could have at least replaced the

driver's bucket seat material instead of having a patch on it. (image 16)

An asking price around $20K reflects the fact that it is a BIG BLOCK, a mere small block equipped car could never command anywhere close to that.

 17600 certainly makes sense.

Skirts are correct. Exact same as on my 68.

Carl,  here is one example of underhood color. Mine has always been this color. Mine has a "Mouse " engine- maybe only "Rats" had black underhood .

My 1968 2+2 with a 327CID engine had a black paint under the hood. It looks original to me.

I have always loved the big GM fastbacks of that era, especially the Pontiacs.

Under the hood looks correct for the most part except for the flex fan, open element air cleaner and generic battery. Somebody was searching for a little free horsepower, plus the great sound the unsilenced air cleaner makes when the secondaries open. Firewalls were body-coloured on Canadian-built models through 1968, it made no differnce if it was a six, small block or big block. If it did then Fisher Body would have flagged the trim tag, and as you can see there was nothing denoting the L35. The vacuum reservoirs were most often painted black (depends on supplier, Bendix vs. Delco).

I love the way the 1968 2+2 used the Impala SS interior but changed the emblem from "SS" to "2+2".

Canadian Pontiac's had a power steering hose bracket off of the intake? or valve cover. I have a picture of one that was in a never altered BB Pontiac that was recently sold here in Calgary from the original owner and is now in the 'Hat I think. I have to call this a "transplant" car if I were to be honest. Sorry guys.........

Looks like the vinyl roof is missing, too.
