1970 Acadian SS vin decode + hubcaps

Hey guys, new to the forum but thought I'd make my first post. I have  a '70 Acadian ss and was wondering if you guys could reassure me of the vin and the options the original car had. The vin is 714270W362713.

I am also looking for these hubcaps to put on the car with the original rally wheels for shows, I have 2 but if anyone has 2 more or a full set I'd be interested in them.

Thanks for your help.

That is a great car you have there. I have a photo of your car from a few years back. Your car was built in Willow Run Michigan, the W in the VIN. While no one would ever criticize you or your car you need to know that it was built with a 350 L48 engine. No big blocks for Acadians, but having  a 396 in there is pretty darn cool. You can order a VIN search from GM Vintage Vehicle Services in Oshawa.

As per 73SC, the link to George Zapora at GM is http://vintagevehicleservices.com/options.html   (Well worth the $75.00)

73SC is right about the VIN search from GM Leeson. There's no way to tell anything about your cars options from the VIN except that is was built with an 8 cylinder. I think it's well worth the cost to document such a nice car. The VIN breaks down as follows:

71427 indicates a 2door 8 cylinder Acadian (the corresponding portion on a Nova would be 11427);

0 - model year, i.e. 1970;

W - build plant, Willow Run;

362713 - sequential numbering, maybe someone on here can tell us if the sequencing was combined with Novas. I don't know but suspect that is was.  Nova sequencing started with 100001.

I know someone who may be able to help you with the hub caps. PM me if you want me to follow-up.

regards,

Brian

The cowl tag will have a little more info. Date built, interior code, paint code and might have a few option codes on it. Take a pic of that and post so we can decode for you.
