Factory trailer mirrors and hitch on 62 Parisienne?

Hi all,

I have a  BC 62 Parisienne 4 dr sedan with what appears to be factory trailer mirrors, (mounted far up the fenders on both sides) and a hitch.

Does anyone know if this was a factory option or dealer add-on?

All mirrors in those days were dealer add-on.....that's why the mirrors sat in different places.

Some on fenders, some on doors. I guess when you wanted mirrors, they would sit you in the car and you would tell them where

the mirror suited you best....my 63 has them on the doors.......by the way welcome from Calgary.

Greaser is right on. Exterior mirrors weren't standard before 1966. Dealers offered various styles as did Canadian Tire and many other places. Sometimes mirrors were on the doors, sometimes they were high up on the door frame, and sometimes they were way down the fender like the Japanese have it.

Thanks; that helps a lot. I thought they were some kind of "trailer package" since the two mirrors are mounted far up both fenders.

Nice 64, Mike; these early 60,s cars are still my favorite to drive. Its the styling, increased performance from the 50,s and the familiarity from growing up in the 70,s which makes me come back to these cars.
My 61 Buick Le Sabre is another project on the backburner.

I appreciate the info. I also wondered why mirrors were different on the same model/year car. I also didn't know that the driver side mirror was not standard until '66. My '62 Parisienne has the right and left mirror on the fenders.

I've got a real oddball. My 62 Parisienne had the fender mounted remote mirror with the remote control on the dash between the headlight and wiper switches.

Your lucky, Dave- that is definitely an optional remote mirror!
Let me know if you have a line on any spare 14" steel rims; I could use a couple spares.
Thanks,Chris
