Washer jar and bracket

Would a 67 Beaumont come equipped with this washer bottle/bracket and label,

fitted to the left inner fender? If so - would the Canadian label say Oshawa?

My 67 appears to have original inner fenders but there are no holes or even

dimples for this mounting?

They make these repro now. Originals, atleast from the early 60's, say Canada on the bottle bottom. Over the years there are 3 or 4 label styles, some coloured, some black + white.

Even the caps vary from year to year.    A couple of my 1970 model year cars had the bracket on the drivers side inner fender (near the plastic windshield washer reservoir), but no glass bottle.  I suspect someone added them at some time, as I don't think they were used in 1970.

Some places say 64 was the last year and another says 67.......

I'm sure they were discontinued after 67.

What I'm trying to determine is  - did a 67 Beaumont come with it????

Wondering if any original car owners here remember these.

MY '69 2+2 HAS THE GLASS BOTTLE, ALTHOUGH THE LABEL IS GONE. I'M PRETTY SURE MY '69 LAURENTIAN DID AS WELL, BUT COULD NOT BE 100% CERTAIN ON THAT (CAR IS LONG GONE). I ASSUMED THEY WERE ORIGINAL, BUT COULD HAVE BEEN ADDED I SUPPOSE.

My 67SD has the original drivers side inner fender, and has the glass bottle installed. I'm positive it came from the factory that way...

Nope, plastic square bottle style on the drivers side inside face of the rad shroud would be correct for a 67 Beaumont.

The glass bottles were a refill additional to the standard plastic reservoir. Curious to know if it was still used for 67?

I don't think they were used in 66 and 67 A bodies... Were they a standard feature in full size cars or an option code? I suspect if it's found on a 67 it was dealer or owner installed back in the day...

My 69 Beaumont just has the plastic square bottle as described by AK. What was the glass bottle for ? Was it just a spare amount of fluid to top up your plastic storage container ?

Yes - originally supplied with your new car beginning in 61 and also sold otc at GM dealerships for around a dollar,

this is how you filled the w/w reservoir.

All Canadian GM had them but trying to determine when they were discontinued in Canada....pretty sure GM in the states

still provided them up to 67 in all models.

Do not see evidence of the bracket holes on my 67 Beaumont.

My Oshawa-built 67 Chevelle has been in the family since new. It never had the bottle, only the plastic reservoir that the washer drew from. One could have been added as a dealer accessory.

GM sold lots of car care products through the dealer back then, like Blue Coral car polish & Opticlean washer fluid.

On a 66 I could believe it being installed at the factory but I'm not sure. Dad had a 66 Biscayne but he traded it in January 1970. I sure as the sun can't remember if the bottle was there or not, let alone could I properly identify the underhood components. I also have an older friend whose parent both owned 1966 GMs from new. One was a 66 Beaumont Custom sport coupe, the other was a 66 Pontiac Parisienne sport coupe. I had looked under the hoods but do you think I can remember if the Opticlean bottle was there? The Parisienne was scrapped in 1979; the Beaumont in 1987. They were both pretty cars in their prime.

There was never a question about the plastic reservoir.......

the glass jar (pictured) was how you bought the w/w fluid from the GM dealer in the mid 60's.

What I am trying to determine is if the glass jar was OE on 67 Beaumonts, in 66 GM was still

supplying this stuff but cannot confirm when this was discontinued by the General.

Not found on most 66 A bodies (discontinued early in the production run), and not on 67 A bodies, if it's there it was probably added at the dealer, or at some other time in the cars history...this is my opinion based on research. There's good documentation on low mileage 1966s with no bottle.

Maybe TinMan will come on and tell us how many '67's he wrecked that had the water bottle?

I would bet on it being an accessory. I drilled the holes (dimples were already there on the inner fender) on my 66 Grande Parisienne last winter to add one of those bottles.

My 67 chevelle inner wheel housing has a raised platform where the bracket would go.

Interesting info on this subject on the corvair site but one would think would be relevant across GM's line. Has a History with part numbers .
